Have initial appointment scheduled at St. Vincent-Carmel (Indianapolis) on January 10. Staff was extremely kind when I called, and did try to get me in before Christmas, but alas, no openings. They are sending out a packet, which I am anxious to get my paws on.

Saw Dr. Jones today: she seems confident about her knowledge, competent in her info gathering skills, supportive of patients, and just generally a kind-hearted person.
Was understanding about my anxiety and was able to calm me with good information. Now the journey has begun---in 6 wks. I should have a surgery date!

Today, 4/2/01, got a surgery date of 5/31

My first impression of Dr. Jones was that she was a very caring individual. I have only met her the one time so my impression has remained the same. My approval process has been a long one. Her staff has always returned my calls and answered my questions to my satisfaction.
I have been to my pre op orientation session which is required before the surgery. There was a nurse and dietitian there to go over what we were to expect in regards to our hospital stay and immediately after.
We were all given a little lunch bag to take home which included a baby spoon and sipper cup.
We were all given a schedule of support group meetings which are held every tuesday of the month. (you pick one a month to go to because they all cover the same subjects). We were also made aware that at every follow up visit with the doctor we would also be expected to see the dietitian.
An exercise class is also available to us after 6 weeks post op. In the class we are able to work one on one with an exercise councelor to tailor our exercise routines to our particular needs.
I was told that the risks of surgery include infection, and death, and that I would have to take a multiple vitamin supplement for the rest of my life along with a B-12 shot or sublingual pill. The failure to take a b-12 supplement could cause nerve damage.

Dr Jones has been absolutely wonderful and understanding from the very first minute I met her and she still is.

Her office staff is great as well. I wouldnt change a thing!

The thing I liked the least about her is she does her hospital rounds late morning and I was looking forward to seeing her.

Future patients should know that in her hands, they have nothing whatsoever to worry about.

She absolutely emphasized after-care and attending support groups.

Her surgical competence, bedside manner, and overall personality is wonderful.
She consulted with my family and eased their fears too. She was very
straight forward about the risks of the surgery, but also
let me know she would be there every step of
the way if anything did go wrong.

Overall, Dr Rosemarie Lopez-Jones is a 12 on a
10 pt scale!! I know you're thinking no one is that
great, but in MY experience she was and is. I
have absolutely nothing bad to say except maybe
for the fact that her offices are so far away
from my home (about 22 mins).

I would tell anyone that is looking for a surgeon to go with Dr. Jones. She has a wonderful personality. I was impressed with her from the day I met her. She has a wonderful bedside manner. Her and her staff have been there to answer my many questions. Once I was concerned that my incision was infected and she told me to come right in. The aftercare program is very structured. There are support meetings she ask you to attend and plenty of follow ups with her and the dietician. I realize that no one is perfect but my experience with Dr. Jones has been nothing but good so far.

Rosemary Jones seems very compassionate, yet serious about her job. She's as cute as a button and kind of a mild-mannored speaker.
Her office has been very kind. I guess this surgery is becoming very popular because scheduling seems to take a while. Between the time I was approved and the time I was scheduled was almost 4 weeks. And then of course the date of the surgery is 3 more months away. I am sort of an anxious person, so I am very ANXIOUS about this.:-D

Dr. Jones has been a blessing. She is extremely helpful and willing to answer any and all questions. One time, when I was having a problem, I had her paged, and she called back within 10 minutes. She not only answered my question, but she took to time to find out about how I was doing as well. I have had one post-op visit and am doing very well. I have also gone to the support group that has been set up. It is a great help to be able to talk to people who are going through the same things as you are. I would rate Dr. Jones very highly. She gets an A++

I has my first meeting in September 2000. However, I was very familiar with the information and meeting set-up since my wife had wls surgery in June 2000. My wife actually used Dr. Jones partner Dr. Inman who is excellent, and my wife has no real complications. However, Dr. Jones was on call the weekend my wife was in the hospital and really liked her. In addition, we have met several surgery veterans through the St. Vincent support group, and Dr. Jones is loved by all her patients. While I decided to choose Dr. Jones, I believe either Drs. Inman or Huse are equally fantastic, and I would recommend any of them. The St. Vincent Bariatric program does have additional Drs, but they are newer and I am not as familiar with them.

One problem is that the surgery has gotten so successful, that there is a long waiting list for the surgery and for getting support appointments for approval and pre-op tests. As for the office staff, they are extremely competent and nice, but also very very busy. They can take awhile to return calls, however if one is patient (which I wasn't), everything works out in the end.

I have my 1st consultation on November 1, 2000. The office staff has been great. They have even called to ask how I am, check on insurance, and give me pointers.

I will let you know all the details after I see her.

I had my first consultation November 1, 2000. I don't think I could have asked for a more compassionate Doctor. She is wonderful and the staff at the center seems genuinely concerned. My husband was even impressed and it takes a lot for him to admit it!

She is very straight forward in her approach that the surgery is not the "only" way to accomplish the weight loss. She pushes menatlity and diet also.

I have been very disappointed in the office staff. I have faxed & left messages several times because my insurance co. says they have not received the packet of pre-determination from the Dr.'s office yet. I finally called on 12-28-00 and asked for the office manager. She offered to fax it to the insurance company for me, but I had her fax it to me and then I mailed it certified to the insurance company. I was also a little unhappy with the fact the letter from Dr. Jones was NOT signed and it said they has scheduled me for a psych consult. That has not been done at all! I am not very happy with the office staff at this point.
