Cleveland Center for Bariatric Surgery St Vincents Bariatric Center

My first impression of Dr. Schreiber is that he is a very knowledgeable man. He goty. I have not had further dealings with him yet because I've just been going through right down to business and wanted to make positively sure that I understood what I would be going through. We talked about my blindness and what alternative resources I would use to implement the program after surgery. I have not had further dealings with him yet.

DR.SONPAUL seems to be a very good doctor he really seemed to want to make sure you know the risks and understand the surgery, future patients should know that he will require a history of diets and programs you have tried and you need to be specfic (date, length of time, etc...)his staff is very good to me and very pleasant so far in my journey.

A very bright and funny man, easy to talk to, and made me feel at ease. Behind a self-depricating sense of humor hides a highly skilled surgeon. I felt I was in the best possible hands. Love my scar-- he didn't use any staples or even outside stitches-- all done from the inside, leaving a smooth, flat, and thin line.
Competent and helpful office staff. St. Vincent Charity Hospital has an excellent program from preparation through aftercare. Risks are well explained. Great dieticians and nurses involved in teaching all aspects of pre/post op experience and care, except that there are a few contradictions between what is taught and what is in the written materials handed out. Also I had a pretty good experience at the hospital, even having to be there through the Thanksgiving holiday. Great, helpful nurses on the Bariatric floor.

He was very quiet but appeared to be very knowledgable about his work. He made me feel very comfortable and was very honest about the expected outcome of the surgery risks and possible complications.
My Impression about him did not really change much. I am very greatful to him for doing such a wonderful job and very supportive of me and my journey.
His office staff were very helpful. Diane was very helpful in making sure that my insurance paper was handled in a timely mannner. She was also helpful in the appeal process after I was denied the first time. Not much emphasises were placed on aftercare program but that did not bother me much since I'm a registered nurse and knew what to do. His Overal rating on a scale of 1-10 would be 9

Dr. Sonpal Has To Be One Of The Nicest And Most Caring Doctors I Have Had The Pleasure To Deal With Throughout This Journey. My First Impression Of Him Was Very Professional
And Straight Forward About The Risks And Complications As Well As The Benefits.I Have Had Quite A Few Complications With This Surgery...Nothing Major But Every Time DR. Sonpal Acted As If It Was Very Important To Him No Matter How Small The Problem Was.I Would Highly Recommend Dr.Sonpal To ANYONE Wanting To Have The Very Best In This Journey. You Deserve The Best And In MY opinion....Dr. Sonpal Is The Best.

Honestly,I didn't take to well with him at first.I got to know him and he took time out to talk to me.He showed he cared, and was very considerate of my thoughts and feelings. The office staff is unbelievably helpful they do everything they can to accomodate you. There's nothing I didn't like least about him.He has a sense of humor out of this world. After care is very important to him.Yes they have an after care program. He discussed the risks of the surgery very carefully and went over everything.9 Surgical Competence of coarse

My first impression about Dr. Schrieber was not really hearing what i had to say?
As I got to talk more to him, He made me feel real at easy. A great listener.
He's staff was very friendly and helpful.
I had know dislikes.
Future patient should know he's straight forward. And strict
Yes, He does.
Plain and simply.

Both is great.

Dr. Schreiber was inducted into the physician's hall of fame in 2003 or 2004 ( this was my transition period) so that says quite a bit about his competence! He is a quiet man with direct questions. He was very kind with me and required additional information and support from my rhuematologist - so he is thorough!!!!!! The Bariatric Center at St Vincent's require you to register into their program for $250.00. I think this is a bit excessive. They provide you with educational booklets that help you with pre-post care. Their books do have conflicting information that at times was frustrating - but over all a great help. I was dropped thru the cracks in their system and almost lost my opportunity to have the surgery. Had it not been for the generosity of my employer extending my insurance plan I would have not had the surgery covered. We were with Qualchoice (covered service) and were switching to Anthem ( an exclusion on the plan) It was impossible to get a hold of someone during this time - this was my worst experience with the office. I later found that the person who had been working on my case was no longer there and that is how I got lost. I called my insurance and found that i was pre-certified for surgery months ago, however I found that there is a difference to pre-certified and pre-approved. I wasn't pre-approved since there wasn't a letter in my file from my rhuematologist. It was up to me to "build" my case to get me Pre-approved or cleared for surgery. I didn't feel the resonse to my repeated calls were given serious enough attention. I do not fault the doctor for this, as the office represents a handful of doctors providing the bariatric surgery. I had originally started as a Laproscopic and converted to the full surgery. Dr. Schreiber was correct that I had too much scar tissue around my "old fashioned" 1989 gallbladder incision. Over all I felt I went into the surgery with my eyes wide open and I was very much aware of the potential outcomes. Probably my dislike would be that I "expected" a more talkative person and found him to be quiet and direct. I would say that I was in very competent hands and I felt special to have a doctor that had such success in his profession. I was personally happy with my experience with him. I would gladly have him as my surgeon if ever I needed one.
