Christiana Institute of Advanced Surgery Bariatric Center
When I first met Dr. Irgau, he tried to talk me out of having the Lap-RNY because of my history of heart disease and having used aspirin and Plavix for so many years. He was afraid of bleeding and ulcers. I told him I was willing to take the increased risk in order to decrease my chances of ever gaining the weight back, which will kill me just as quick, if not quicker. He wanted me to consider the LapBand. Ultimately, I chose the RNY.
My first impression of him was ........he's kind, caring and very informative, and overtime that did not change Dr.Irgau is a very, very nice guy he cares and it shows, his staff is kind and attentive and they make a great team in my opinion, he answers questions in ways that you understand he makes direct eye contact which is important,he really emphasizes aftercare and seems to have a well structured aftercare program which I will soon experience, overall I rate him and his staff as excellent, and I'd refer them to anyone in this area considering bariatric surgery.
He was exellent. He listened and answered all the questions I had. Even when I was a bit confused he helped me understand and explain everything fully. He even drew diagrams of what the different surgeries were so when I chose, I knew I was making the right decision. I would recommend him to anyone considering this lifestyle change.
My first impression of Dr. Irgau was one of a very personable, knowledgable, professional, and friendly doctor. The office staff was really nice, the only thing I would have changed was the lenght of time it took before getting a response to my concerns. Dr. Irgau did emphasize that it was important to follow the liquid diet for 4wks after my surgery. I would say that my overall experience with this office was excellent. I would refer anyone to here because I was treated with love and care.
Dr. Peters is in practice with Dr. Wynn and Dr. Irgau. I have only met Dr. Peters and Dr. Irgau (both male),however a friend had her RNY done by Dr. Wynn (female) and loved her. I met with Dr. Peters on June 22nd and my surgery was two days ago, on August 24th. My surgery was at St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington, DE and I was really impressed witht the facility and the staff. At least three of the nurses who took care of me had had gastric bypass and the whole bariatric ward has recently been renovated to include larger beds, chairs, showers, etc. The nurses know their stuff! One of the things I was really impressed about the was the fact the there are always two doctors in on the surgery. So Dr. Wynn assisted Dr. Peters...makes you feel a bit better knowing you have TWO of the best looking after you, doesn't it? The only complaint about the doctor I had was his office...he's NEVER on time. The first time he had an emergency and was three hours late for my appt. and last time he was 1 1/2 hours behind. It's a drag, but if I was on the emergency side, I'd want the best care, too, so I can understand.
