Christiana Institute of Advanced Surgery Bariatric Center
Dr Irgau is a very kind, gentle and caring Dr. He seems very compasionate. I think his staff is very helpful most of the time. Sometimes it has been hard to get in and I have waited over an hour in the waiting room. But it is worth the wait. I would recommend him to anyone who is thinking about having surgery. He was very through in his examination and explaination of my surgery. He answered all our questions graciously. Overall I have been pleased with my Dr !
Dr. Irgau has always been a straight-forward type of surgeon. I appreciate this very much. He made me very comfortable not only at our initial meeting but the morning of surgery, also. He is extremely busy so I have seen another surgeon in the office for my 3 mo. post-op appointment but I knew this ahead of time and was ok with it.rnrnHe initially had me leaning towards LAP band but when I got home and thought about it I knew RNY was the way I had to go to be successful. I would've \"cheated\" with the LAP band whereas, I cannot with the RNY. He was fine with my choice.rnrnI went through St. Francis Hospital and had a wonderful experience both pre and post-op.
- first impression was competent and caringrn- my first impression was correctrn-office staff is great. His insurance coordinator is lax about returning calls and very hard to reach.rn-I think he's great. What's not to like?rn-He's accessible and willing to take plenty of time with you for questions.rn-Aftercare is regimented. You have to follow the rulesrn-very carefully addresses the risks - several timesrn-On a scale of 1 to 10 he's a 9. Only because he's young.rn-he's a great doctor on every score. highly recommend him for any type of WLS
Despite having to wait a long time to see him, I always look forward to meeting and discussing my current weight status and goal with Dr Irgau. He is a very good and kind surgeon, and very personable. I always walk away knowing that he cares for my success as much as I do. I have found his staff is very friendly, and competant.
My doctor is a soft spoken man and always has a smile. He wants to help you in anyway he can to make things go smoothly through my process. The staff members are very helpful and nice. He makes you realize that this is a life long change and the exercise and watching your food portions are very important for ever. We go to group classes to help one another through any questions we may have. He suggest that we do this. When he explained to me the risks he made me feel very confident of him. Over all I would rate my Doctor very high because he is a people person and a very caring one. He has children and a wife and he has their pictures for everyone to see in his office. So to me that shows he cares for his family and for me. He is one of the best Doctor's on the East Coast and he was well reccommended to me.rnrnrnrn
Dr. Irgau is a God send! I love him and his office staff so much! I am one of those people who don't stick to things for that long, but the staff stayed on me and I got all my appointments. Shot out to Mary Ellen, girl you are the bomb! On the day of surgery, my husband and I were so nervous, but Dr. Irgau came in and made us so comfortable! He is a stickler for the rules which makes him great in my opinion! Thank you so much!
Dr. Peters was understanding and very easy to talk to. He made me and my wife feel at ease, and let me tell him what I truely wanted. He did express his opinions and they were pretty much what I was expecting. The office staff from the experiances that I have had thus far were hurried and really did not care. Patients must be an advocate for themselves and must stay on top of things. The office staff kind of let things fall through the cracks and do not return calls very well.
My first impression of Dr Iragau was that he seemed very kind and concerned. He was very straight forward so I always knew where I stood with him, even if he was unpleased. But he was never rude or uncaring, which is always a good feeling to get from your doctor. My views of him are very high right now and I don't believe they will change. The staff in his office are very nice people as well. The things I liked least where, I didn’t see the doctor that much before the actual surgery. I believe I spent about 1 hour total with him before the surgery and that is being a little generous. Also it sometimes took longer than expected to hear from office staff on certain paperwork and phone messages. I thought I had popped a stitch on a Sunday so I called Monday morning but I didn't hear back until Tuesday morning. I thought they would have gotten back a little sooner for that kind of issue. The after care with the group is all explained during the process of getting clearance and briefly in the pre operative meeting. The office takes a one step at a time approach, I think to not overwhelm or scare people. They give you all the information you will need until the next time you see the doctor. As of today I am one week after surgery and I’m clear on the things that I have to do until my next appointments. I rate Dr. Iragau very high I would say about 9.7 out of 10. He and his staff have been wonderful and have also been great with my insurance rush crisis. Dr. Iragau is one of the top rated surgeons in this field for Delaware so that is awesome, and his bedside manor was also wonderful for the little time I did see him. I have no complaints overall. The Dr. and office are great.
I have to admit that I was a little upset with Dr. Irgau and his staff when I was denied surgery the day before surgery back in July 2005, but 18 months later I realize it was not his fault that I had a crappy insurance. Now that I have a new insurance and a surgery date of Dec. 5th I'm sticking with Dr. Irgau because he is the man to get the job done this time.
