Atrium Health Bariatric Center
Dr b is a great surgeon! My wife and I spent weeks searching for the best and we found him! He is a no nonsense kind of doc though and very strict! He has a zero mortality rate and a very very low complication rate and he keeps it that way by staying on his patients about the rules and taking lots of precautions after surgery.
He was personable and very approachable. Not the least bit intimadating. The office staff was wonderful. Seemed geniuinely interested in my success. rnWonderfully well structured program. Both before and after surgery. rnHe was very open about risks as was his PA. I look forward to having them @ the helm of my journey.
I recently had to see Dr. Bauman after i had a diagnostic surgery due to slight issues with some inflamed scar tissue after my gastric bypass surgery. Dr. Bauman did not perform the surgery but nevertheless it was his job to give me post op care. Dr. Bauman spent a total of 3 minutes in the examination room with me. This was just enough time for me to tell him that i had concerns with one of my incisions and some new back pain that i had been having. Dr. Bauman simply asked me if i had mentioned this to the nurse, which i had but what was she going to do besides tell the \"DR.\". Dr. Bauman then tells me that my \"real\" surgeon will open his practice in february and i could talk to him about any of my concerns. I do plan to talk with my surgeon just as soon as his practice opens, but what if something happens before then? What if something is really wrong with the knot under my incision and what about the severe back pain that i have been having? I understand that one surgeon may not enjoy seeing the paitents of another surgeon just as patients (like myself) do not like seeing other surgeons, but the fact is i needed medical attention and it was Dr. Baumans job to attend to me and he did not. I was not asking for a friendship when i walked in that office. I was simply looking for decent medical care, I guess that is too much to ask for.
Dr. Kuwada was referred to me by one of my good friends. I was always skeptical of WLS, but after I seen Courtney's results, I had to do it. I seen that nothing \"bad\" happened to her, so why not give it a try. I met Dr. Kuwada and he was sooooo down to earth, very kind, attentive, knowledgeable and reassuring. He went in great detail about both the Lap Band and RNY. He didn't sugar coat anything, but kept it real. He told me the Pro's and Con's of each procedure. In the hosptial, sugery day, he was the same. I felt comfortable with my life in his hands, and besides God, who can you say that about. I recommend everyone who is remotely thinking of WLS to meet Dr. Kuwada. He is a great man and wonderful surgeon!
Did an excellent job.rnMy first impression was quietness, but I guess that is not so bad. His bedside manners is all that needs to be expected. He understand ths situation, so no real need for all happy happy joy joy, so all good. rnrnHis assistant, Dr. Keller was excellent. She was kind, talkative and very outgoing. They were a good combination.rnrnNothing negative to say.
I was very impressed by Dr Nimeri, he is patient and understanding, not rushed in answering your questions, very personable and knowledgable, lets you know the facts straight out, that is it not a game, you have to be dedicated and extremly serious if you want the surgery to work, it is only a tool and the tool is only as good as the user. i am pleased to have piced him.
He rocks... he's soft spoken but definately the best of the best in Charlotte, NC. I was told to expect to stay 2 nights at the hospital... I stayed 1! I was up walking with no drainage tubes and only a cath for 12 hours... not because my health was optimum but because my surgeon and his team were the BEST. No regrets in my decision on Drs.
I had heard about Dr. Gersin from a co-worker. She had given favorable information about him. I decided to go to the initial meeting. About five years ago, my primary care doctor told me that I was candidate for bariactric surgery, so I decided to research the surgery. It really scared me, so I concluded that this was not for me. My health continued to deteriorate and I was pretty much at death's doorstep. In October 2007, I had seen my co-worker who had the surgery. I asked many questions and I saw how happy she was. She had lost over 100 pounds and said she felt wonderful. I can't remember feeling such, so I decided I would once again research the bariatric surgery. I am very happy I did. I went to the initial meeting with Dr. Gerin and he was very informative, he addressed the risks which calmed my fears. My not having the surgery outweighed the risks. He said the surgery of past years had gotten better. My surgery was March 18, 2008 and I feel wonderful. My body doesn't have any of the aches or pains. The staff were wonderful, although the hospital nurse was horrid. The day after surgery the pain was unbearable, yet the evening nurser told me to bite my lip and get over it. No compassion what so ever.
Dr. Kuwada was amazing, he is a wonderful man with great knowledge and love of his profession and what he does. I never felt stupid or misinformed when asking him questions. He addressed every risk and worry I had during the process. He was realistic and straightforward with me. His staff, nurses & nutritional team have always been willing to help answer questions to whatever I need. They're always a phone call away. He helped me grasp the knowledge/concepts of everything I needed to know before and after surgery. He was hard to get an appointment with at first when I started the process of finding out about the surgery but it was worth the wait! He is a highly respected doctor and I am glad to be one of his patients. I would recommend him to anyone.
