Novant Carolina Surgical Charlotte Bariatric Center
My first impression of Dr Melkonian was at the bariatric surgery seminar in November 05. He seemed like a knowledgeable doctor who enjoyed talking about bariatric surgery. I was impressed. I then researched him on this web site and was happy with what I saw. When I met Dr. Melkonian at my first pre-surgical consultation on 1/13/06 I was still more impressed with his patience and willingness to answer all my questions. He was very thorough in explaining all of the risks and I left feeling that I had a good understanding of what my body will be going through. 3/3/06 I had my 2nd pre-surgical consultation with Dr. Melkonian today and am still more impressed with the professionalism of both the doctor and that of his staff. I am 100% sure I've made the right choice in a surgeon. 3/26/2006 My surgery was Tuesday. Dr. Melkonian was professional and I would recommend him to anyone I know. I had no pain that I can remember...I am up and about and going back to work tomorrow. He is fantastic!
I got to meet my surgeon. His name is Dr. Lowe. He is really nice. He listened to all my questions and answered them without using
"Doctorese." You know the foreign language
only doctors understand! I really enjoyed our visit and look forward to seeing him again for my official pre-op meeting. The nurse that came in to speak with me was very nice as well. I felt as if I had known them both for awhile instead of just having met them.
So far I haven't met him or talked to him yet. He did e-mail me right back after I e-mailed him and told me to call and make a appointment to come and see him. I did that today and my first appointment to see him is November 9th at 12:30. I will let you know everything and how I feel about him and all after my appointment.
I did get a chance to meet Dr. Carl Lowe and my first impression was he had a kind, warm greeting and friendly talk. He was svery nice and talk calming to me. He told me he dealt with Medicaid before so he knows what Medicaid was looking for and what they would and wouldn't take. He was very honest and kind-hearted when he explained everything to me.
The only negative thing there was with my whole experience was the treatment I received from one of the office staff at their office. I can't remeber her name but she has resigned. Dr Lowe was disappointed with me when I came back for my pre-op visit because I had gained 15 lbs.. I explained to him that I had gone to all of my favorites restaurants and held back nothing. I vendicated myself by showing up at the Hospital on the day of surgery with my weight down 27 lbs by following the two week liquid diet regimen that he requires to the letter.
I'm am here so that I can share with the whole WLS world my experience with Dr. Lowe....Thank You soooooo Much Dr. Lowe... He is a kind gentleman....He is deeply concerned about your feelings....He took 45 more minutes in the surgery room for me sooo that I would have this surgery done LapRNY... That means the world to me....I did have very lil complications after I made it home from the hospital, but that's normal what happened to me, but I feel that any other surgeon would have went ahead and opened me and not work out that extra 45 min.... I'm telling Dr. Lowe is the best in the surgeon business.... He is not like other surgeons that treat you like the next paycheck....He really gives his all in caring for you and I cannot express that enough...If you met him you'd know what I'm talking about....If your considering having the surgery done I suggest Dr. Lowe...He is the best and he cares about you and your feelings... He will be there for you and do his best for you....GO DR. LOWE YOUR NUMBER 1 IN MY BOOK.....GO WITH DR. LOWE YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT....
Dr. Melkonian is a super doctor he is straight to the point and he tells you what you need to know he don't beat around the bush and he seems to care about his patients and the out come and change that going to take place. He tells you about the surgery from the beginning to the end and what to expect after your surgery.
my first impression of dr.lowe was that he was compassionate and understanding.he answered all of my questions and he didn't make me feel rushed.when i first met him in 2004,he knew of me having cancer in 2003.he asked me to wait for 1 more year to make sure that it didn't come back.he even called me from his cell phone because i was so upset that he didn't do it right away.he explained to me that it was just too dangerous to do it right away.i understood and waited and saw him again in 2005.he thought i was more than ready for the surgery.i'm so glad that i found him.i wouldn't trade doctors for anything.
