California Pacific Medical Center Bariatric Center
My surgeon is very personable, knowledgeable and kind. My impression of him has changed for the better. The more I read about the procedure I wish to have, the more confident I feel in his abilities. The office staff are wonderful. They return calls the same day. They seek answers instead of making their patients do the work. The only negative thus far is that I live 2 bridges away. He has support groups all over the San Francisco Bay Area, including my side of the bridges. The aftercare program consists of monthly support groups and some of the groups are so advanced that the patients have developed a support group within the support group, created their own website and the group leader(s) hosts events for other patients. Dr. Jossart was up front about the various surgeries, their risks, their challenges and their rewards. He let my daughter and I decide which surgery was best for us. I would give him a 10 but only God is perfect. So, I'll rank him 9.999999. I prefer both but will take surgical competence over bedside manner any day.
My first impression of Dr. Jossart was that he just seemed like a really nice guy. He was very knowledgeable and kind, and caring.rnrnHis office staff, especially Marilyn in the insurance department has been great so far. We've been in contact a lot recently as we try to do battle with PacifiCare to get around their Healthy Roads program.rnrnDr. Jossart's aftercare program is not covered by insurance, since it's very structured, and not deemed medically necessary by the insurance. This includes the support groups, check-ins, and other aftercare.rnrnWe discussed risks of surgery, especially with my kidney failure, and decided on the VSG as the best surgery for me.rnrnDoctor Jossart checked in on me each day I was in the hospital and was very concerned about me. I felt like he really cared. By the second day (I was in 3 days), I was up and feeling great. rnrnAfter I went home, I got a call from Doctor Jossart himself checking on me and seeing how I was doing.rnrnNot only does he have great surgical skill, he has great bedside manner, a strange combination in a surgeon. Both are fabulous. I didn't need to choose skill over attitude with Dr. Jossart. For me, I have to have a connection with someone I'm going to trust to cut out the majority of my stomach. :)rnrnIf you can, I would definitely suggest going to Dr. Jossart at LapSF.rnrn
I found the Laproscopic Associates of San Francisco staff very helpful and informative. When I met Dr. Jossart I was surprised that he was very personable. I also found him very knowledgable about the surgeries we discussed. I also have communicated with several people who have had surgery with this group and all have had positive comments.
My first impression of Dr. Jossart, was how down to earth he was, and I still feel that way. There was no ego to get past, and he made me feel so comfortable. His staff was very informative and caring. I can't really think of anything negative to say about him, and would certainly recommend him. Future patients should feel confident in his ability as a surgeon, but also in his human compassion. There is a structured aftercare program which I am just beginning. I am only 6 days post op. He was very informative regarding aftercare, and has a website to follow up on daily. All risks were explained completely prior to the surgery. I would rate Dr. Jossart a 9 out of 10. Surgical competence and bedside manner are a package deal for me, and I am fortunate to have found Dr. Jossart.
My first impression of Dr. Jossart was he seemed very knowledgeable on the subject. He had a good presentation and answered questions from the group. The hours these doctors put in and the distance they travel made me a bit susicious as to whether it was all for money. Over time I came to feel that it was more. I think both he and Dr. Cirangle care about WLS patients and the changes that can come from this procedure. I felt they saw us as people that had tried everything and needed help. They wanted to give us the tool for sucess. As busy as these docs are, I felt a little rushed at one on one appointments. He answered all my ?s. Just felt a little rushed. I had absolutely no probs. No pain, no dumping, nothing negative so there really wasn't much to talk about. The girls in the office are great and are always there to answer questions. Good follow thru and the docs are always available for phone calls. I had a 7 hour drive home and both Dr. Jossart and Dr. Cirange wanted me to stay in the area a week in case of any probs. rnI am certain that my sucess has been due to the competence of Dr. Jossart, information provided by his office staff and my hard work.rnIn my book he is the BEST and i would recommend him highly. I have lost 105lbs!rnP.S. He's also pretty good looking!
Dr Jossart is a very wonderful kind and gentle human being. I had surgery in November of 2006 and stayed in the hospital for two months. Through all of the good and bad Dr Jossart was right by side. I am very thankful that I had him as my Surgeon and he and the good Lord above are the reason I am still here. Thank you, for everything. rnrnMachelle Couillardrn
Had my surgery on the 27th of March. I love this Doc. Not only is he a very skilled surgeon, his bedside maner is fabulous. How nice it was after many years of being treated as a second class citizen to work with Dr. Jossart, who talked to me like he believed I was an intelligent woman! He visited me both days in the hospital, then made an appointment for me to see him before I left San Francisco. He puts a lot of stock in the aftercare program and following his orders. Overall, I would rate him a 100 out of 100. By the way, this surgeon will answer an email within 24 hours, usually 12. Hospital staff like and respect him, especially the nurses, always a good sign.
PRE OP IMPRESSIONSrnDr. Jossart is very polite, reasonably friendly, informative, and generous with his time. He did not push me into a specific surgery, but asked me a lot of questions, then suggested 2 types he thought would work for me. I felt like we were a team. My first visit with him was over an hour. rnrnPOST OP IMPRESSIONSrnDr. Jossart certainly lived up to his reputation for excellence. He was so kind in the surgery suite, so patient, so unhurried, he asked my preferences before I was put under. He visited me in the hospital at the usual times, spent a lot of time with me and let me know how he sees my aftercare will play out. He expressed great confidence in me, was very friendly and casual with me, but always professional, always ultimately the highly competent surgeon. His competence is definately his strong suit, but I find him to be adequately interested in me as a human also. I seem to have a lot less pain and a much quicker recovery than other people I've spoken with and I feel I owe this to Dr. Jossart's skill. My relationship with him will continue on into my future. rnrn6 MONTHS POST OP IMPRESSIONSrnDr. Jossart continues to impress me. I feel like we are a team. He is very interested in my success. He was not just interested in doing the surgery--he wants to KNOW that I've made it, that I can keep the weight off forever. He and his staff will chart my progress through the REST OF MY LIFE. He feels strongly that his practice is measured in the success of his patients and he will work with you to make sure that you are successful.rnrnSince OH thinks it sounds more real when you say something negative to balance out the good, I will add the only thing I can think of that might POSSIBLY be negative about Dr. Jossart. I think that the more successful and well known his office becomes, the less individualized care he'll be able to give people. That's a real shame. If he and his colleagues at LapSF get too busy, take on too much, the business will suffer. I hope that this doesn't happen, because they have great practice now. No office is perfect, but the people at LapSF really try to be perfect and it shows. rnrnONE YEAR POST OPrnDr. Jossart is a brilliant surgeon and great doctor. At my one year check up, he gave me more suggestions about how to fine tune my eating and did the most thorough blood work up I've ever had. We spent about 30 minutes together, and he reiterated that he will be my surgeon for life, that he wants to chart my progress over the long haul and that he is available to consult with any physician I may need to use for other needs. rnrnMy prediction about his office becoming too success sadly proved too true. He lost the associate that was his partner in my surgery. The pace just got to be too hectic. The practice goes on strong though and a new associate will be added. Dr. Jossart continues to be very busy--way too busy. I told him a little about the life I lead now, and he says he is so busy making this happens for others, that he doesn't have a life himself. I think he may have to slow down. rnrnDespite his superhuman schedule, he remains brilliant, confident, and ultimately competent. If you are lucky enough to get him for your surgeon, you will be very pleased with the quality of your care.
Dr. Jossart makes a very good first impression. He's straight forward, professional, and moderately friendly. rnrnHis office is well organized and staff is also professional. rnrnI went in to my initial consultation set on the Lap Band \"just in case\" I wanted to have it removed some day. Dr. Jossart spent over an hour discussing the various procedures, answering my many questions, and discussing the positives and negatives of each procedure. I left his office and did some more homework and felt that I had sufficient information and chose the VG which was the procedure that he recommended. rnrnI spoke to Dr. Jossart two additional times before the day of surgery for about 15 minutes each to answer follow-up questions, about the procedure and after care.rnrnHis practice does emphasize after care and two years is included in the costs. I had the surgery on Oct 5th and was out of the hospital the next day with no complications or problems since. Had my two week followup last week and all is well.rnrnDr. Jossart's strongest point in my case was the confidence he instilled in me in his experience and competence. His strong comunicaton skills made it clear what the surgery would do to help with my obesity and what I would have to do to ensure the surgery was problem free and the long term success would be achieved. Overall I would rate Dr. Jossart very highly.rnrnIf I had any negative comment, it would be only slightly negative and would be that email communication for patients (as opposed to prospective patients) could be arranged better. But that borders on nit-picking...
