Benefis Bariatric Institute Bariatric Center
I just had my first appointment with Dr, Rohrer. He is a very nice man and struck me as very compassionate. Even though I'm an RN he explained everything in detail. The office staff was very professional. I've also been asking questions about his technique and types of problems his post-op patients have had. I heard a lot of good things and only one comment that there were a couple of cases of peritonitis. I've not heard anything that would change my mind. My first impression is very positive.
He was very professional. I had used Dr. Rohrer for another surgery I had had years ago. He has great bedside manner. His staff is very helpful and always cheerful.
That he did not warn me how awful I'd feel after surgery, all the nausea, vomiting and trouble with food. Future patients make sure and ask and make sure they know all the answers about after surgery problems.
Yes
Explained thoroughly
Outstanding
Both were great
I found Dr. Rohrer to be very nice and willing to answer all questions. He made me feel like I was in good hands. He knows his stuff and he lets you know in simple terms what he is going to do. No fifty dollar words.
His nurse Lisa was very nice to me. I liked her alot. She is very good at her job and very pleasant to me and my husband.
What I wasn't too happy about was he does not use the blue dye test to test for leaks. He said "it's very messy and he's not a messy person" He uses air. This concerns me a little, but well see.
His office was neat and clean, could have used some PEOPLE magazines though lol. He made it very clear to me that HE wants to pull the drain tube so HE can see how things are in a week. He can't see if some other doctor does it. While I'm not to happy about another 500 mile round trip one week after surgery,I am grateful he is interested enough to check for himself. So far... I am happy with him and very anxious to have this surgery done.
Oh yes, he made it VERY clear that while all the stuff, stomach, intestines etc, are left inside it was a perminate surgery. That this is not another fly by night quick fix. I will have to work to keep weight off. I like knowing that.
He made sure I understood that this suregery isn't for everyone and with all my past surgeries this would be a difficult surgery but he felt he could do it. All in all I was happy with him.
I have not actually met with Dr. Rohrer yet, but I have spoken with Lisa and she has been GREAT! She is helping and doing all the Insurence paper work. I will meet Dr. Rohrer on 3/6/02.
I've only had one meeting with him thus far. He was very kind and helpful with plenty of information. His secretary, Lisa, is just super too!
Being post-op now and feeling great, I have to rate him as a 10. He was just great while I was in the hospital and he's been wonderful with his aftercare.
The aftercare program is structured and I find that I like being able to know how things will progress for me, like diet & exercise.
Surgical competence and bedside manner are both GREAT!
I have absolutely nothing negative to say about him or his staff.
I am an RN in the ICU and have worked with Dr. Roher for several years and after seeing how skilled of a surgeon he is and how well his patients do I chose him to be my surgeon. He and his entire office staff are not only extremely professional but are always willing to take time to return your calls or help you answer any questions that come up.
He was so genuine..I am so impressed with his results.........he is a great DOC.
I was instantly at ease with Dr. Rohrer. He was kind and concerned and caring. Even though he knew I had had a consultation/presentation once already that week, He made sure he described the surgery in detail, gave me booklets about the surgery and diets, answered all my questions and my husbands very patiently. Important to me was that he let me talk without trying to talk over me all the time, something that made me feel important and like a real person, not a number. He says it is safer to do the small incision rather than all laprascopically, but I was won over more that his manner was so trustworthy. His assistant Lisa is a sweetie although very busy. I felt cared about by both of them as they together found me an earlier date, and I was most grateful. Dr. Rohrer emphasized follow-up care, which is every month as opposed to every 3 months. All in all, I feel I am in very good hands.
Dr Rohrer is a very kind man. He truly seems to care about you as a person. He understands the prejudice that obese people face. Lisa his asst. is very, very pleasent(phony) most of the time---but she is often short, and tells you that she is very busy when you phone the office. She also does not seem to understand, that for those of us who have lived our lives fighting this battle--We want help-NOW! We want answers, and we need support. If it had not been for Dr Rohrer's reputation--due to Lisa I would have sought a differant surgeon.
My surgery was canceled twice. I was sooo upset! She told me that she was doing her job and I souldn't be upset. I told her that she obviously, has never walked in my shoes or she would understand the disappiontment. Dr Rohrer knew of this situation. He was still in the office at 5:40pm when the review comm. from my insurance called with my approval. This was friday night--I was scheduled for surgery on monday morning! Dr Rohrer phoned me at home told me the good news, and called the woman who lisa had scheduled in my place. I had my surgery on monday as schduled!!Dr Rohrer is great!!
