Bariatrix Florida Bariatric Center
I have an appointment scheduled on July 10, 2003. I met Dr. Wizman once at an information session in June. He seems very knowledgable about the procedure and very up to date on the latest techniques. His staff has been wonderful in assisting me. So far, my impression has been good. I'll update after my first appointment.
Appointment has been completed. First impressions really do count. Dr. Wizman was nothing less than a God-send. He took his time and thoroughly answered each question that I asked. He did not seem concerned with how long my consult took, only that I was satisfied with my answers.
My main criteria for selecting a surgeon was not a warm and fuzzy feeling but rather finding the most skilled surgeon available. Now I know nothing about medicine and have no qualifications to allow me to evaluate surgical skill. So I went with my gut (ha-ha)
- I thought Dr Wizman seemed cocky and self assured in the way a talented surgeon would be, I liked that. He also said he played alot of video games as a kid - I liked that too. He seems a straight shooter - no BS.
His office is very well run - everyone I have spoken to has been A+ helpful and nice. Roxanne and Kendra were especially helpful. The case manager seems highly professional. They have this down to science and it seems to be a very structured before and after care program.
Negatives? No really good reading material in the waiting room
PAUL WIZMAN IS JUST THAT. A WIZ. HE IS SMART TO THE POINT, CARING AND HE LIKES WHAT HE IS DOING. WHEN YOU HAVE A LOVE FOR WHAT YOU ARE DOING YOU PERFECT IT. THAT IS WHAT HE HAS DONE . I WOULD RECCOMEND HIM TO ANYONE.
I went to the information session given by Dr. Marema and recieved some very helpful information. He is a very personable man and seems to truly enjoy his chosen field of bariatric surgery. He was honest about the risks of the surgery and did not try to "fluff" things up. I think if you are going to let someone open you up, you need to take the time to listen to the risks and FULLY understand what could potentially happen. I really appreciated the way he showed opposite ends of the spectrum of the patients that he treats. Debbie is the nurse coordinator and she seemed helpful, although when I left the meeting I was a little confused about what step I should be taking next. Although, it may not have been their fault, its possible I wasnt listening carefully enough. Dr. Marema made it very clear that aftercare for this surgery is life long, and that it is the patient's responsibility to follow up on that. I think one of the greatest things that a surgeon in this field could do for a patient is have that patient trust them. So far, his office seems to be the one for the job.
5/30/03 Dr. Marema no longer accepts my insurance so I have been to an information session with Dr. Wizman. He is personable and professional. His interest in this surgery is due to the fact that he specializes in laproscopic surgery and he was very blunt about that. He is also very confident in his abilities and I felt very much at ease. His office staff has been nothing but fantastic. Every time I call they are friendly and helpful, answering all my questions and inquiries.
Dr.Wizman was recommended by my coworker who had the surgery last November.
He was at the Hospital when I arrived for my appointment and the room was filled with people having waited on him at least an hour, or more. I thought to myself, I would rather he be taking care of those in critical need at the Hospital, even if it had meant I would sit there all day.
I listened to the chatter of the women as they talked about him. Some said he must be signing autographs.
I never heard anything negative though.
Sure enough, he flew into the room and it wasn't long before he had met with those who had waited.
I noticed he did something that no other Doctor has done. He comes to the waiting room personally for his patients.
Yes, he was a bit overly self assured by first impression.
I like that about him though.
If anyone could make you feel safe, it would be him.
He made me laugh by saying he was sure he will be doing my surgery with or without insurance coverage. He would do it for free. I couldn't help but wonder who would pay the Hospital portion? He said I am a good risk, because I knew so much going into it, that it was like having another surgion drilling him.
He also stated, that even though I weigh 282 lbs, he thinks I carry it well and I would be a easier to operate on, in his eyes.
The office staff are great. Prompt about returning calls.
I am looking forward to being transformed into a butterfly by this man.
We all know he cannot do anything without God, but I do believe that the Lord sent him in my direction.
well i found a new surgeon can see him on the 5th april not waiting until april 25 too long to wait.4-5-02 met with Dr. Wizman, he is wonderful, he is thorough in explanation and honest of all aspects.4-15-02 DONE now we just need to wait for insurance answer. date scheduled 4/23/02 denied. 7/22/02 i would like to tell anyone who is on Vista and searching for a surgeon i hope that they get better with info for you but if not Dr. Wizman is the surgeon on this plan call him see him, he is good i sat in a meeting he lectured and he has good and thorough information and i trust him. Dr. Wizman is the best and i would reccomend anyone to him and have done so with several people already. i owe him my life. This man is ONE in a million!!!!!!!!!! The best.
During the initial meeting he was informative, sincere and has a wicked sense of humor. I liked him very much. He completely and honestly covered all the benefits and risks of surgery. He also had an endearing bit of cockiness that was the deciding factor in my choosing him for my surgeon. After all, who wants an unsure doctor to do all this plumbing re-arranging??
My one-on-one appointment did not change my feelings, only reinforced them. I LOVE his humor. He reminds me a little of the french guy from Hogans Heros ( I imagine he might not appreciate that but it's true :)
The office was very busy and since he is only a one doctor practice from what other patients said in the waiting room, you can wait a while when when going to see him.
His office staff is very nice, Roxanne and Faye in particular are awesome and very attentive.
I did LOTS of research on all Dr.in my area. Dr. Wizman was very personal, warm and funny. The office staff has always been very helpful and caring. The Dr. does stress after care. Dr. Wizman is good at what he does and he knows it (one of the things I liked about him)
I would tell anyone thinking about this surgery to see Dr. Paul Wizman.
