My first impression of Dr. Warnock was..."Wow...look at those boots!" Being originally from the northeast it took me a few minutes to digest that boots can be worn with a suit and tie!! I'm sure he will probably laugh at that comment, but at one point he left the room, and my husband and I both looked at each other and said.."Did you see those boots?" Dr. Warnock was very professional with us and his knowledge about bariatrics was very impressive. He seemed to genuinely care about my situation and was so patient and kind.
The office staff was wonderful and very understanding. I didn't have the opportunity to meet "Debbie", Dr. Warnock's secretary because she had left early, but I have talked to her numerous times on the phone and she is very pleasant, although she seems SO OVERWORKED! I think Dr. Warnock may need to get a "secretary" for the "secretary!"
The only thing we were a little bit disappointed with was our wait to see the doctor. MY appointment was at 3:15pm and we didn't see Dr. Warnock until around 4:30ish. Being nervous...it made it really hard to wait, but the wait was worth it.
I will be meeting with Dr. Warnock again shortly and then be able to give a better review on him and his staff once my surgery is completed. So far though, I am extremely impressed with this surgeon and his staff. He has a wonderful support group for his weight loss patients and encourages you to talk to previous patients of his. I think that in itself says alot about Dr. Warnock and his staff!
I look forward to working with him in my journey toward health...

Dr. Warnock is a wonderful skilled physician and now that I am post op I can honestly say I know I was in wonderful hands with him heading up my care. He is the most empathetic man I know and he has this way about him that makes you feel everything is going to be okay. He expects a lot from his patients post op, but he makes you want to do all you can..
He is truly a blessing and I would recommend him to anyone in the Wichita Falls area and beyond.

I've known this Dr. for quite some time outside of his practice. He gets rave reviews from everyone. When he begins with you he wants you to understand that you now belong to him and will for the rest of your life. Everyone I've talked to say he treats you like you're his child and so endearing. I was also thrilled to know that he had been performing WLS for nearly 25 years. He choosed open rny due to the fact that he can get in and out faster, keeping you under anesthesia for the shortest time possible. Anyway my life is in his hands and I couldn't be happier about that.
The insurance girl is a bit slow sometime and you have to call her quite a bit. She'll get it done, but I understand she is swamped.

Dr Warnock is a very consicienses and caring surgeon. He explains everything to you up front and then tells you what he expects from you and what you can expect from him. His office/staff is professional and very helpful. He really want's you to take your vitimans and walk. He believes you have to take care of yourself. He is very dedicated on aftercare. He has meetings the first Saturday of the month. Dr. Warnock does discuss the risk of surgery. I would rate him a 10 out of 10. His surgical competence and bedside manner are both fantastic.

My first impression of Dr. Warnock was that he was a caring physician. He did not in any way try to convince me that this was the surgery for me. He explained benefits, risks, possible complications of surgery, the lifestyle changes I would have to make in order for the surgery to be a success should I decide that this was truly what I wanted to do. My impression did not change over time. I had some post op complications and had to be taken back into surgery. He again demonstrated a caring and professional demeanor. He was on occasion rushed, but this can be said for any physician. His office staff, especially Debbie, was extremely helpful. She worked with the insurance company to get the surgery approved diligently. Others who had dealt with her that I visited with had relayed to me that she was very competent. Dr. Warnock puts great emphasis on aftercare. With the complication that I had, I was released home with a gastrostomy tube to feed myself extra nutrition through to help heal my surgical wound site. This could have been very depressing for me, but he explained the reasons for this very clearly to me and made this easier to deal with. I believe surgical competence is always the better ability, but the bedside manner of the physician certainly plays a role in the patient's healing process. I am employed in the health care profession and work closely with doctors on a daily basis. My experience with Dr. Warnock was a positive one overall. He didn't tell me this was a wonder cure, he told me that it involved a lot of dedication on my part which has turned out to be absolutely true. If anything, he may be overcautious to a fault. When I was preadmitted for surgery I was given a very informative packet that outlined aftercare very well. It explained about the need for vitamin supplements and why, the different types of foods I should be able to tolerate and what I probably would not be able to tolerate, the importance of exercise, and gave different people's names to contact if there were any questions.

My first impression of Dr. Warnock was that he was someone very sincere and caring, someone who is very understanding of obesity. The women in the office are great and have always returned my calls and sent me paperwork on time. I had to wait over an hour for my appointment, but he was worth the wait. He makes sure that you know everything that could possibly happen during and after surgery, he emphasizes things you can do to prevent most things, and he makes sure you know that the surgery is not a cure, only a tool, to help obesity. He is everything I want in a doctor. I would rate him as a fine surgeon, and I haven't even had the surgery yet!

Heard from Human Resources today that the company might be changing insurance companies December 1. I had been in the process of getting insurance approval for RNY with Dr. Henry Horrilleno in Dallas since August 25. As of today, my letter of medical necessity has not been submitted to the insurance company and was told that there was no way that Dr. H could do the surgery in November.

I knew from past investigations that there was no other hope for a quick approval and surgery in Dallas. The doctors are just too backed up. So I started looking elsewhere.

My search led me to Dr. Kenneth Warnock in Wichita Falls, TX. I read very good things about Dr. Warnock on this site and I have dear friends in Witchita Falls. My friends confirmed what I had read here - he is an excellent surgeon and a wonderful human being.

When I called his office today, I spoke with the receptionist - everyone else is on vacation. I told her my problem and she set a consultation date for me - October 30 and told me she would have Debbie, who schedules the surgeries, call me the next day.

Debbie called from Dr. Warnock's office this afternoon. She offered me November 28 for my surgery. And then she apologized because it couldn't be sooner, but with the holidays and having to wait for the insurance approval that was the best she could do. I am thrilled. I talked with the insurance company several weeks ago while waiting for Dr. Horrilleno to submit my letter and found that they will pay 100% of the surgery expenses. All they require is that I be at least 100 pounds overweight (and believe me, I am). They need height, weight, BMI and blood pressure to make a decision - and the decision is usually made within 48 hours to one week. So - if all goes well with Dr. Warnock, I am on my way. I will post more here after actually meeting him.

I met with Dr. Warnock October 30 and was very impressed with him. He is a kind, compassionate human being who shows extreme concern for his patients and their families. The first thing he asked me was why on earth I would go to Wichita Falls from Dallas for surgery. Next he questioned me enough to know that I had done a lot of research on this surgery and had extensive knowledge of the benefits, my part in making it work, and of course, the risks. He certainly didn't downplay the risks - wanted to be sure that my family and I know what we are getting into.

At the end of our visit, he told Debbie to talk with me about scheduling because he was convinced that I knew as much about the surgery as he did (ha ha ha). I have my date for surgery - November 29 - two days before my insurance deadline.

My surgery was November 29 and was totally complication free. I was released from the hospital December 4. Dr. Warnock was wonderful. I attribute my successful surgery to his expertise, but far more than the mechanical skill, this surgeon is so kind and compassionate. Never at any time did he make me feel that being morbidly obese was anything more than a medical condition. He is so sweet and caring. I was really surprised the day I left the hospital when Dr. Warnock hugged me.

I was very impressed with his care and concern for his patients.

Over time, I did change my opinion of him on certain aspets, but still believe he is the best surgeon I could have found to do my RNY.

make sure he discusses EVERY aspect of this surgery with you...write down and ask questions- as many as you need to.

Dr. W really stresses aftercare...
He does have a good aftercare program, if you are able to get to his office.

I would recommend him to anyone withint a reasonable distance to use Dr. W as thier surgeon. He is great!

His surgical competence and bedside
manner are both wonderful.
In this care, I would say surgical competence is the most important.

My first impression of Dr. Warnock was a delightful one. He is straight forward and very knowledgeable concerning the different procedures. He answered my questions in layperson terms and even provided a sketch drawing of what is to be done in my specific surgical procedure.
The staff was also warm and friendly. You are not just a number here, but treated with dignity and respect.
Aftercare is a prority with Dr. Warnock and his staff. They actually are interested in a patients ongoing treatment after the surgery.
I highly recommend him and his staff.
I will update further after my surgery on July 15, 2002.
GOD BLESS!!!!!!

I have only had one visit to Dr. Warnock. It was a consultation for WLS. It took about six weeks to get this appointment and then had to be put of about 10 days due to Dr. Warnock having to go out of town. They reschedualed it on a Saturday, obviously for my convience.
The only thing I didn't not like, was that I did not get the paperwork in the mail previous to my appointment. I could have been more thoughtful and maybe it would have been more accurate. The information on these forms are very important if you have an BMI under 40.
The staff (only met Debbie) and Dr. Warnock we both very pleasant. The surgery was explained very well. I did not have any question because of websites like these so my appointment was very short but I got the feeling he would have stayed through 101 questions.
It took Debbie 10 days to get my referral ready and Tricare got a response to me in 48 hours or so.
The office is out on vaction now so I am waiting on pre-op appointments and a surgery date. Waiting is terrible but they need a vaction, too :).
That is all for now. I will continue to update as I think of things or have more appointments.

<font face="Comic Sans MS"font size="2"font color="Black">Met with Dr. Warnock today and my first impression of him was just the same as everyone else who has posted about him. He is a kind, considerate and compassionate man. He blushed when I told him some of the wonderful things people have said about him on this site. He explained everything in great detail and didn't sugarcoat anything. He emphasized that my success with this surgery would depend on me and that there are great risks as well as advantages to having this surgery. He talked about aftercare and stressed that he likes to take very good care of his patients. I didn't get to met his office staff, but I am calling tomorrow to set everything up with Debbie. I would rate him overall on a scale from 1 to 10, definitely a 10.
