Baptist Bariatric Center Bariatric Center
My surgeon is one that is extremely experienced with WLS surgerys. The office is small and unimpressive but he comes with excellent credentials. His office staff is positive and inviting. He has performed this surgery many times, yet he seems excited with each patient as they start their weight loss journey. He and his staff are VERY encouraging. I was especially impressed with his long term care policy. After a few months of visiting his office (post surgery) he moves your care to the Bariatric Clinic at Baptist Hospital. They will continue to monitor your progress for five years. They monitor your nutrition, vitamins, and labwork. This was the deciding factor when I choose Dr. Nye to be my surgeon. I am very pleased with my surgeon
I THOUGHT HE WAS GREAT. I HAD HEARD GREAT THINGS ABOUT HIM, FROM PEOPLE WHO HAD SURGERIES(NOT JUST GASTRIC BYPASS AND THEY ALL SAID HE WAS GREAT)
MY IMPRESSION OF HIM DID NOT CHANGE OVER TIME.
THE STAFF WAS HELPFUL, BUT I WILL HAVE TO SAY THERE WERE A FEW TIMES I FELT THAT THEY WERE NOT AS HELPFUL AND AS ATTENTIVE WITH MY NEEDS WHEN I CALLED AND HAD QUESTIONS ABOUT WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH MY BODY. NO ONE CAN PREPARE YOU FOR ALL THE CHANGES THAT HAPPEN TO YOU, AND SO I WAS CALLING SOMETIMES JUST TO MAKE SURE IT WAS O.K. TO DO CERTAIN THINGS OR TAKE CERTAIN MEDICATIONS. I JUST FELT THEY WERE TOO "BUSY" OR DID NOT WANT TO BE BOTHERED.
I HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THE SURGEON.
DR NYE GREATLY EMPHASIZES THE IMPORTANCE OF SURGICAL AFTERCARE.
I FEEL DR NYE HAS A VERY STRUCTURED AFTERCARE PROGRAM
DR NYE IS BLUNT AND TO THE POINT, WHICH IS SOMETHING PEOPLE MAY NOT LIKE. HE TELLS YOU HOW MANY SURGERIES HE HAS DONE, HOW MANY DEATHS, AND THE REASONS WHY THEY HAD COMPLICATIONS. SOME PEOPLE MAY NOT LIKE TO HEAR THE HARD FACTS, BUT IT IS NEEDED WHEN DEALING WITH A MAJOR SURGERY SUCH AS THIS ONE.
I WOULD RATE HIM AS A "8" ON A SCALE OF 1-10
SURGICAL COMPETENCE AND BEDSIDE MANNER BOTH ARE IMPORTANT. YOU NEED THE COMPETENCE TO KNOW YOU ARE IN GOOD HANDS, AND THE BEDSIDE MANNER TO REALLY FEEL GOOD ABOUT YOUR DECISION BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER THE SURGERY.
05/19/05 I got my appointment to see Dr. Nye in July I heard some really terrific things about him. On 1/10/2006 I got to meet Dr. Nye in person he's a really super doctor you can tell when you walk in there that his patients love him and so do the staff. I really liked him very open easy to talk to seems very interested in helping me get my health back. Explains the procedure and go into details about what you can and cannot eat. I totally recommend Dr. Nye to anyone he is one of the few doctors I have been able to find who takes Medicare for payment. Most of the surgeons doen't want to talk about it and want the money that any insurance doesn't pay upfont. If you read my notes in my page it explains what's required for medicare thru his office.
My surgeon was Dr. Nye. I thought he was very honest and to the point when I first met him. I still do. I like him very much. His staff are all incredibly nice, they make you feel really comfortable. He was sure to emphasize aftercare, the hospital has a very stuctured aftercare program that works hand in hand with his office. I would recommend Dr. Nye to anybody who is contemplating getting this surgery. I was very pleased.
very upfront and forward, lots of information.
he seems more caring about his patients then i had assumed.
they seem rude at times but i found out its because he is in high demand and they are always very very busy, but they worked hard for me to get my insurance approved.
that he was very honest.
hes a wonderful odctor and he cares very much for his patients and is always there for you 24/7.
very much he follows you for 5 years.
yes
he let me know everything that could and will happen due to surg there were no secrets.
10.
he is wonderful all the way around.... he could be a lil better if maybe he cloned him self lol he is very busy.
Dr. Nye and his staff are the best. His program at Baptist Hospital is top notch. He even has a part of the hospital for his patients where the nurses are trained in dealing with bariatric patients. Every step of the way, he or a part of the team, are there for you. If you can find a better surgeon, use him. But you can't. If you live in South Wetumpka, Montana, save your money for airfare and fly here to get fixed by Dr. Nye. Rose and the others are great and helpful. They will handle everything. Just come in with your insurance and problems and leave satisfied and fixed. He told me he does away with high blood pressure and many other problems. I thought yeah right. But he does. He tells you like it is. If he tells you, write it down, its the truth. My name is not Steve Vetter but they are my initials but if anyone has any questions, feel free to email me through this forum. Dr Nye, by the way, in his spare time is a trauma surgeon. I mean how much better can you be than a trauma surgeon. I mean if you can be fixed, Dr Nye is the man to do it.
My first impression was the night before my appointment in his office. I saw Dr. Nye at my first support meeting. He really cares about his patients. He would laugh and smile with them. He is a wonderful man. His wife Rose is his nurse. She was at the support meeting also. I saw Dr.Nye and Rose in his office On the 10th of March. Nurse Rose got everything ready for Dr. Nye to come in to see me. She took my hight and weight. I'm 4 feet and 11 inches tall. I am 215 pounds. BMI is 44. Alot of paperwork sent to my tricare insurance. The office staff i only saw at the window to get my insurance card and paperwork. But, She seem very nice. I really like everything that i saw. Dr. Nye and i have not talk about aftercare. The only thing he said about aftercare at this point is that i will need care. He will not do surgery if my husband does not come in with me at the appointment before the surgery. I told him my Husband can not come. My mom and my sister will be taking care of me. My husband is not a very good nurse. He laugh and said he understand that. I will be staying with my mom after surgery for a while. We also talk about my history of bloodclots. He will make sure i am taken care of. ONE THING I LOVE THAT ROSE SAID TO ME.... WE WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU AS IF YOU WERE OUR OWN DAUGHTER. That right there did it for me. I knew right then that Dr. Nye was going to be the one that does my surgery. So far i rate both Dr. Nye and his staff a BIG (((((9)))))
It Has been over a year since i had my wls.
I still think alot of Dr. Nye and his staff.
It seems like everyone is alittle stressed out at times when i go in there. Dr. Nye is doing my Tummy Tuck July 19, 2005 I put my whole trust in Dr. Nye. I know he will take care of me. I also know he will do a good Job with my plastic surgery. I will update after the surgery.
4/6/05.........
Well today was the day...I met Dr.Nye and his staff for the first time. I was really nervous. But Dr.Nye and his staff were really great. And eager to answer all my questions and to make sure I understood the procedure. The receptionist said she would send the request to the insurance company and it could take 4-6 weeks. So what, I've been over weight for 38 years, a few more weeks won't make a difference..
6/9/05.........
Pre op appointment, I hope that someone reading this post is considering wls, and lives close enough to have the chance to choose Dr. Nye and his staff, they are the greatest. Very caring, and supportive, they really make you part of their family, Thanks Dr.Nye, Rose, and your complete staff, You all are very special to me and my husband, you've made this journey very peaceful, and have shown us the compassion that all Doctor's and staff should have, and Rose you are so wonderful, remember behind every great man is his wife...
Dr. Nye is very confident and reasuring. He has taken his time and always answered all questions. I have been here in Fl since 2001 and every doctor I have gone to from GP to surgen has given me little hope. A heart doctor said that there was nothing left that any one could do for me. I never gave up. I have a healthy heart. Dr Nye has given me every hope for a better life. Thank you.
Dr. Nye works out of Baptist Hospital and has a great pre-op and post-op program in place. I look forward to working with every one there.
