Usually I can make a judgment after a first impression. I was right about Dr. Katsis. He had both surgical competence and bedside manner, however I was in a bit of a fog after surgery and don't know that I retained every detail that he said. All I had to do was phone the office and any questions I had were quickly answered and I was not left to feel any question was too petty. The nurse that was there during my consult to just before surgery time period no longer works there as of late November or early December 2006. I did have many bumps along the way in regards to the actual events leading up to my surgery, totally unrelated to Dr. Katsis. He set me up with a 2 week follow-up appointment after my December 11, 2006 surgery. He left no questions unanswered. It took me 9 months from consultation to surgery, which seems longer than most I know of. To my knowledge, nothing that Dr. Katsis knew of. In addition to Dr. Katsis, the office staff has always been polite and I have never had any problem with them. I completely 100% trust Dr. Steven Katsis. Even though I only have seen him 3 times, (which is normal) it is only time that would limit all the good that I can say about him.
Only seen him once so far... going for official pre-op visit with him on Dec. 12th... He's a real HOTTIE though... so looking forward to seeing him again!! he he !!

Well, let me say My first impression of Dr. Katsis, was wow he is hot!! He is very nice and personable. I felt like God had lead me to him and knew right away I wasn't going to waste anymore time looking at other surgeons. He made me feel very comfortable about my decision to have surgery. My impression is still the same today. His office staff is busy busy!!!! I think they do a good job with everyone wanting their surgery done yesterday. There wasn't anything I didn't like about my surgeon. My first office visit I had to wait several hours to see him, but that is a small price to pay compared to what I have gained. Dr Katsis is the only doctor I would recommend for this surgery. He really wants you to take care of yourself and stresses water and protein. I was very educated by him on the risks of the surgery. I would rate Dr. Katsis a 10+ I fell his surgical competence and bedside manner are both great. I was so nauseated after surgery and throwing up blood (left over from surgery, nothing bad) Anyway Dr. Katsis was right there and seemed so concerned, You can tell he cares about his patients by the look in his eyes.
I had a great first impression of Dr. Katsis just by the was he entered the room. He was very friendly and very relaxed and confident. He put me at ease right away and
was willing to answer any of my questions without making me feel silly. The office staff was more business like than him but still pleasant. There wasn't anything I didn't like about him as right away I knew God had sent me to him as I felt it. He did emphasize aftercare was very important and also the risks of the surgery. I have already had the surgery once years ago so I knew about most of the risks. I would rate him excellent overall as he has expressed both competence and a great bedside manner.
Very unusual for me to like a doctor this much on the first visit but I just knew he was the best surgeon for me. This is just my impression of him.
I have met with Dr. Katsis twice now and both times he has been very patient with any questions- answering until you are satisfied. He is also very nice and easy to talk with as well as very informative.
He has great bedside manner and was very honest and up front with me. When I had my consultation I didn't feel like I was a number or a paycheck, but a person he cared about giving quality of life back to. I feel very confident about putting my life in his hands.
The staff seems to be a bit impatient, but it seems that might be the case only because they get a million phone calls a day and go over the same information time and time again.
Met with Dr. Katsis on June 1st and was immediately put at ease. Was impressed with knowledge and time spent with my husband and myself. We had a ton of questions and concerns! He said I was a great candidate for WLS because I am overall a healthy person; no high blood pressure, diabetes, heart problems. If I were to wait several years to pursue WLS, the story would have been very different. Now is the time to make this huge venture! Very excited about the surgery and the surgeon!
HE HAS DONE A WONDERFUL JOB.....LAPORSCOPICALLY....THANK GOD AND THAT IS NOT EASY ON A 350 LB. PERSON....GOOD SENSE OF HUMOR AND EASY ON THE EYES....GREAT AFTERCARE...GOOD STAFF, ON A SCALE OF 1-10....I GIVE THEM A 9.5
