Arnot Ogden Medical Center Bariatric Center

Dr. Rahman has been a fantastic physician. He has helped me along my journey. My original surgery was at Arnot Ogden medical center in Elmira NY. They have since closed their bariatric program. I wanted to stay with Dr. Rahman so I now travel 2 hours to Binghamton NY to continue with his service. I highly recommend Dr. Rahman!

I absolutely love Dr. Rahman. I would refer the 'seriously determined person' to go to him. He is such a professional who truly cares about his patient's welfare and HEALTH. He is very serious about his work and will not tolerate YOU not being serious about YOUR part in this. He is extremely honest and forthcoming. At first I found that to be intimidating and daunting...but I found that I NEEDED that. Once you realize this is not all about fun and games and an easy solution to a very bad problem, this doctor is 'warm, caring and extremely efficient to your needs". He insists on your 'help' to become a healthier person and I am so grateful for that. He 'listened' to me...he 'cared'...he is totally 'honest' and hard working. And a perfectionist. What more would you want from someone that has YOUR LIFE in their hands??!!! I wouldn't have anyone else. Thank you, Dr. Rahman!!!! (Cheryl Metcalfe, Elmira, NY)
PS. Dr. Rahman is no longer at Arnot Hospital for anyone that is interested. Arnot has recently closed their Bariatric Center. Dr. Rahman will be in Binghamton, NY. I am definitely following him!!!

I really like Dr. Rahman. I was a bit nervous as there are some people on the forums here that really didn't like Arnot Ogden and the staff. It was the exact opposite for me. I thought Dr. Rahman was very soft spoken and took a lot of time with me to answer my questions and explain the different procedures to me. I took well over an hour with him and never once did he make me feel like he was anxious to move on. At one point when I was emotional, his eyes watered. I'm so glad I chose to go to Arnot and find out for myself whether or not I would be comfortable and confident in my decision with a surgeon.

Dr. Rahman definitely knows what he is doing and has a lot of information. His staff has been awesome with their support and information. I wasn't sure I liked his personality during my office visits, but I changed my mind when he performed my endoscopy; he was great. He cares alot about how his patients will handle the surgery and making sure they understand how serious and life-changing this will be.

Dr. McKane was suggested by my primary's office. He is very personable and very thorough in his procedures. Went through a lot of tests but I guess it is worth it. The whole office is nice and everyone is very friendly. They want to make sure that you are both mentally and physically prepared for the procedure. The dietician emphasizes how much you are going to have to change your lifestyle and has you start out by eating better before you have the surgery. The risks of surgery and what to expect is explained so that you understand all that is going on. They are great.

At first I was unsure of Dr. McKane but after I got to know him I really liked him. He did not pull any punches he told you exactly what the complications could be. He told me all the risks involved and made sure I was well aware of what I was getting in to. The office staff was great, they are very supportive and understanding. He was wonderful after the surgery and answered any question I had no matter how small. The only thing I do notice now that I am doing great and all I do not get to see him I usually see the nurse practitioner Sarah (who I love) but I think the office has just gotten so busy it is hard to have time for all the patients. I would recommend him to anyone (I have already). I tell everyone that at first you do not know how to take him because he just tells it like it is no beating around the bush but stick with him he is more then worth it.

My first impression of Dr. McKane was he was very kind, and informative. He was great through the whole thing. The office staff was kind, and curtious, but as of yet not very friendly. The only thing that I didn't like about him was that I didn't get to see him just before my surgery. To his future patients, you'll love him. As for his aftercare, he is very thourogh, and again informative. Yes he does have a structured aftercare program. He hands out a paper listing all that the risks might be to you during and after your surgery, and discusses them with you. On a scale of 1-10 Dr. McKane is a 10. I couldn't tell you what his bedside manner is because I never saw him in the hospital, as the other surgeon in the practice was on that weekend. But his manner was great also. Dr. McKane's surgical cometence is outstanding as far as I am concerned. I had little pain and little scarring.
