Apparao Vanguri, M.D. Bariatric Center

I did extensive research on this surgery prior to choosing a surgeon and decided that I wanted the Open RNY. After speaking with many of his patients, I chose Dr. Vanguri.
Dr. Vanguri and his staff are wonderful. He is very quiet and straight forward. Not, a cut-loose, joker type of guy. But, the important thing is that I feel very comfortable with his experience and skills as a surgeon. He cares for his patients and always has their well-being in mind. He covers all of the necessary surgery information in detail and stresses aftercare. He also encourages everyone to attend his free monthly support groups.
Despite his very busy office (people, phones, etc.), he and his staff take the time to answer all of your questions, return your calls promptly, and make you feel as much at ease as possible.

Dr. Vanguri was very nice. He seemed confident but not cocky. He has a great deal of experience and was very thorough in explaining the surgery and answering questions. His staff was very pleasant. One person on his staff has had the surgery and she is very happy with her results and another member of his staff is the mother of a patient who is doing wonderfully. It helps to see that they trust the procedure so much they were willing to do it. I'm very excited and I feel very lucky to live so close to Dr. Vanguri's office. Several people were from out of town and other states. Very impressive...

He is a very nice and helpful surgeon. He answered every question that I had and didn't hurry me at all. Very caring.
Update: I totally trusted Dr. Vanguri during my surgery. His aftercare was great. He has been to every support meeting that I have been to answer any questions. He is a quiet man, but don't feel that it is because he doesn't want to talk. Just talk first! I think he is a great surgeon! My experience with him has been totally positive.

I met Dr. Vanguri for the first time on June 7th, and then again on July 5th, 2000. He seemed genuinely friendly and I never felt as though he was looking down at me, (those of you who have gone to doctors who dislike fat people know what I am talking about). He explained a couple of the procedures and let me and my husband ask anything and everything. I did research beforehand so I didn't go there uninformed. I hope he will continue to be helpful and supportive as I proceed with the necessary tests, etc. leading up to the surgery, as well as afterwards. Wish me luck on September 25th! :)

I found Dr Vanguri to be very knowledgable about wls in general and about revision surgery. The man knows his stuff. I also found him to be very personable. With God and Dr Vanguri in the operating room, I know I will be in good hands

Great I think Icalled him about a hundred times at home during the first month post op and he always returned my calls.

I met with Dr. Vanguri on 2/15/00. I really liked him. He explained a couple different versions of WLS and all the possible side effects of them. I feel confident that I have made the right choice for myself.

Dr. Vanguri is a very patient and compassionate person. He is so kind. I would highly recommend him to anyone thinking about having this surgery.

I have met with Dr.Vanguri two times. Both times he appeared to have all the time in the world to answer my questions. He seemed very willing to consider the kind of surgery I wanted, but I would like to have had him give reasons why he prefers one over the other. He was at my first support group meeting and I believe he tries to make it to all of them. He had illustrations of the surgery and so far seems to have a good bedside manner. Some of his staff have had the surgery and so are able to be of great help on the telephone. I feel comfortable that he has a lot of experience and truly takes his patients concerns under consideration.

I went to see DR. VANGURI 2 TIMES,At first I was very nervous,but his staff is very nice he was running a little late so i got a chance to talk to some of his patients in the office. none of them had any negative things to say about Dr. Vanguri,and all of them would do it again in a heartbeat.Dr.vanguri explained everthing he also told me how important aftercare is and all the risks,i 'm very happy with who i picked,now i'm waiting to see if i'll be approved.Please pray for me,and wish me luck

I think he is great .He had a confadent air about him the first time he saw me that the surgery was for me.It was 3 years after that I had my surgery.He told all the risks showed it to me step by step by picture then asked if I had any questions.He doesn't make you wait in the witing room and always makes me feel that I came for a visit not a doctors visit.I see him once a month in the office and if I should have a problem or question just call in.The staff have been very helpful too.
