I first met Dr Aguirre in person the day before my surgery was scheduled. I had talked to him a couple times on the phone and emailed him also. I believe I am his 3rd US patient. I am now Post-op as of April 15th 2003. Dr Aguirre was very nice. I feel that for all self pays out there, that he may be your answer to your financial situation. The nurses are all non english speaking !!!! The Hospital is more like a Clinic. I saw the Doctor aprox. 3 times a day. Just to say "hello" and find out if there was anything he could do ...I never did that blowing thing for your lungs. I was very sick and throwing-up from the meds. They never did get the meds right. I did not like being alone in Mexico, and would not recommend it to anyone. The nurses & entire staff at the clinic/hospital only spoke Spanish, this was very fustrating to me, but I was only in the hospital 3 days. Dr. Aguirre has done over 475 of these operations & he is very knowledgable, before surgery he gave info and answered questions I had, he also told me of the risks involved with this surgery. The post-op care was not explained very well and there were no real written instructions given. Aftercare is really important, and this part of the operation/aftercare is really lacking in my opinion.I recieved no structured aftercare program. It would have been great to get some instructions in wrtting (computer printout) to give all his patients!!! He also should give everyone a copy of there medical records before they leave Mexico, I have requested them from him for months and gotten nothing. For me it was a rough journey,I would not do it over again in Mexico, but I am hear to tell about it, and that is good...

Have only talked with him via email to set up the surgery date but have researched him through his website and all the testamonials on this site. I am so excited to have him as my surgeon.

I have only e-mailed Dr. Aguirre. He answers my e-mails the same day. He seems like a very caring man. I am looking forward to talking to him and meeting him. I feel comfortable with everything I have heard about him.

He has been a very caring patient man with me. I have had some problems with available dates given to me and he has spent much time working this all out. I am looking forward to meeting him face to face.

I live in calif. so I asked Dr. Aguirre if I could just drive down and see him. He said , that he would like that. I wanted to check things out myself. Mainly so I could convince my mother to go with me. She was very opposed to the "Mexico" idea. I showed up at his office when I was told to. He talked to me all about the procedure. Let me go to the hospital and check it out I even was able to talk to Jessica C who had surgery like 7 hours before and seemed to be doing great she and her family were very reassuring and friendly. It was great I felt a lot more comfortable having been there and meeting the Doctor. He is very nice just as others explained. He is also very patient I could tell he was busy but he still made time for me, which I was greatful for. Overall this is a great oppurtunity for self pay, if not the best. The main point of the trip worked also, my mom is starting to accept that I will be going with or without her; and it can't be said that I don't know what I'm getting into. I'm set for oct. 24th, 2003. I am writing this to help other patients and family members that are not able to drive down and back in one day know that everything is okay. Dr. Aguirre is very proffessional and will take good care of you. For those wondering Dr. Aguirre only does an open rny. I feel good about this though he said that there would be a less chance for leaks than with the laproscopic surgery. I am fine with this I would rather my insides be good and my incision take a lttle longer time to heel than any type of leak. This was just my personal experience and how I feel about this expireience.

Before I talked to Dr. Aguirre I knew he was a special man because of all the great things I had read about him on obesityhelp.com.
I e-mailed him and asked a couple of questions and he was very quick to answer all of them. I have talked to him on the phone and he has the kindest way of talking and answering all of the questions I had. I cannot wait to meet him in person.

Emailed Dr Aguirre, he returned email within 24 hours, so I am impressed with him. What other Dr. would do that?
I am very much looking forward to meeting him.
