Alejandro Aguirre Wallace, M.D. Bariatrics Bariatric Center
My contact with Dr. Aguirre has only been through email so far. He has answered all my questions and replies to me generallly within a day. I went ahead and set up a date early on -- figuring that I could always cancel or reschedule if it came down to it. Being self-pay isn't the most ideal situation, but many of us have no choice. $6900 is a lot of money, but it sure beats $25000. That said, I feel confident in Dr. Aguirre. I've done a lot of research on this surgery and him. He is certainly qualified and I've read nothing but glowing reviews. He only does Open RNY, but I think I'd prefer that over Lap. The surgery is faster, less expensive, and there are less chances for leaks. Overall, I've been very impressed with Dr. Aguirre.
Dr. Aguirre is a very compassionate, very thorough doctor. He makes you feel like you are the most important person in the world. His record speaks for itself. I definitely felt safe and secure in his hands.
He does not have a structured aftercare program, but he does give you written instructions explaining the following few months. I would highly recommend him to anyone who has to self pay and can't afford the pricey hospital/doctor fees of the USA.
My first impression of him was that he has gotten very busy and did not have as much time for personal attention as I had heard he gave and was expecting.
When I met him, he was very relaxed and never rushed. He gave me his speech and I was ready. I can't think of anything I didn't like about him.
Everyone I met related to his staff was very nice and congenial.
There was not much stress on the aftercare program and the day he was speaking to me about aftercare, which was the day I left the hospital, I was still too drugged to absorb much of that information.
I rate him excellent - he is a very nice man, marvelous surgeon and extremely knowledgeable on the subject of bariatric surgeries.
Dr. Aguirre is a wonderful, caring man. He has a great sense of humor. He speaks great English so you can understand everything that he says. When you meet him before surgery, he explains every detail of the surgery and all of the post-op requirements. He makes sure that you know everything and that you are committed to making this life change experience. After surgery he comes to check on you in the hospital and makes you feel great. He did a wonderful job with my surgery, I feel great. I would recommend anyone that has to self pay going to Dr. Aguirre in Ensenada. His nurses do not speak English, but that was not a problem, they know what you need. Every few hours they gave me my antibiotics and my pain medication. The second day the nurse got me out of bed, gave me a shower, and make me start walking. I am doing wonderful so this must say something about the care that I received.
This man is truly remarkable. He addresses you by name & goes over the pros & cons of surgery, not only the Roun-en-Y, but other types of weightloss surgeries, and explains to you why he does only the Roun-en-Y. He gives you all the time you need to ask questions & accompanies you to the clinic to do your pre-op testing. His associates Dr. Estrella & Dr.Gomez are also both very friendly & assure you that everything will be just fine. His staff do there very best to give you the care you need (alot of them do not speak any English, but they manage to understand what you need). He has a printed sheet of aftercare instructions & gives you his personal cell phone # to call anytime if you need information or help. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Aquirre & his staff to anyone deciding to have this surgery
