Albany Medical Center Bariatrics and Nutrition Bariatric Center
First, be prepared to set up camp in the waiting room. I have had a few appts. there and the shortest wait time that I had was a hour and 20 minutes after my appt. time.
Dr. Singh is not highly personable, but I don't really care about that if you are good doctor. The first time I met him, I felt like he made a lot of assumptions about me, which were not true, and he already had some ideas about what was wrong with me, even though he had no information. When I told him that I have no other symptoms of his proposed diagnosis and I have already been tested for it with negative results, he was rather dismissive of my information and said that the nutritionist would probably have me tested anyway. I got the feeling that I was a patient on an assembly line, where each person receives a standard course of treatment with an attempt to push people along to the end result. It only bothers me slightly now, as long as I get to the end result. If I have to jump through hoops and take a bunch of tests that everyone else does just because that's the procedure, then so be it.

Dr. Singh's office from the start has been very professional. He is straight forward, lays out what he expects from you, no games.
His office does all of the leg work for the insurance and any specialized appointments (pulmonary/labs/cardiologist/pre-ops).
His office schedule 2 years of post ops and you have that in hand before you have your surgery! Their office has a couple of different locations for convenience.
Although it took a year for this process, it was well worth it, he listened to me, where as the other surgeon who did my lap band refused to listen.
I would recommend him along with his associates.
He is a good surgeon that sits down with you ahead of time to make sure you know what it all entails and is open to all questions at any time. He was there to my husband as soon as the surgery was finished to let him know how things went, etc. He was open to any questions my husband had on it.
Very courteous.
His office staff have been very courteous before the surgery.
I have nothing negative to say about him or his staff.
His before and after program is very structured and you have to make certain critera to get to the point of surgery.
He even did my EGD himself to check out my throat and stomach area with the scope.
I wouldn't have anyone else.

He was very up front about everything. He really encourages lots of questions and answers them honestly. The office staff are friendly and competant. I really do not have anything negative to report about my whole experiance. It went very smoothly, of course I had done alot of research for months before my appt. with Dr. Singh.(I am a nurse.)These are my own personal experiances and i am not making statements about what others may have experianced.
I have not met him yet. My appointment with him is not until 12/10/09. I had a VBG done in 01/04 and am going to have a reversion RNY.
