The entire office staff was quite efficient. Dr. Miles answered all questions and encouraged my husband's continued support, making it clear that my husband will be my biggest source of support before, during and after the surgery. One thing that impressed me is that he was present at the support group meeting last Saturday (8/21/04) - although he didn't speak to the group, his presence was enough to speak volumes because it seems he supports his patients and wants them to be successful.
MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF HIM WAS ALREADY GOOD BECAUSE MY UNCLE CHUCK LANSDELL HAD ALREADY USED DR. MILES. HIS STAFF WAS MY FIRST IMPRESSION AND THEY WERE VER PROFESSIONAL YET COMPASSIONATE AND WONDERFUL. I COULD TELL DR. MILES WANTED TO SCOPE ME OUT TO SEE IF I WAS SINCERE ABOUT THE SURGERY, WHICH I THOUGHT WAS GREAT. HE SEEMS LIKE A WONDERFUL SURGEON. DR. MILES EXPLAINED EVERYTHING UPFRONT AND MADE SURE I HAD NO QUESTIONS FOR HIM BEFORE HE FINISHED. HE ADDRESSED ALL THE RISKS OF THE SURGERY, AND MADE SURE I UNDERSTOOD EVERYTHING. I WOULD GIVE DR. LES THE BEST RATING AVAILABLE AND I HAVEN'T EVEN HAD MY SURGERY YET. JUST THE CONSULTATION WAS ENOUGH TO SELL ME ON BOTH HIM AND HIS STAFF. I ALREADY KNOW THAT HIS SURGICAL COMPETENCE IS 100% AND EXCELLENT AND I HAVE EXPERIENCED HIS OFFICE-SIDE MANNER AND EXPECT HIS BEDSIDE MANNER TO BE EXCELLENT AS WELL. I LOOK FORWARD TO MY FUTURE EXPERIENCE WITH DR. MILES AND HIS STAFF.
My surgeon was Dr.Miles he was wonderful, he listens to everything you have to say. My husband went with me to my initial consultation and he actually asked more questions to Dr.Miles than I did and Dr. Miles answered every single question and took time out to answer them, they weren't like rushed answers or anything. During my pre-admission visit Dr. Miles again made sure I knew all the risk involved with the surgery and wanted to be sure I was ready for this big step. I assured him I was ready and that this was a 3 year decision. I highly recommend Dr.Miles and Medical Center East Hospital everyone was great and professional and the nurses took great care of me. I have no complaints...
Dr. Miles is wonderful. He is a straight shooter and knows what he is doing. He is VERY through. I like most people think that all the tests and meetings he requires can be a waste of time and money but when you really stop to think about it -it makes sense. I mean I am comming from Tuscaloosa, all my doctors would be an hour away to be of any help if anthing went wrong. I also am glad to know that Dr. Miles wants to cover his bum by having these test done. Its in his best interest and mine. Ms. Debra is to die for. She is the nicest, most wonderful soul you will ever meet. I can not say enough about Ms. Debra. Everyone else is very nice and pleasant except one lady who sits up front and answers the phone. She tends to be moody and not so nice all the time (I dont think she likes her job). Know that this is a complete program. Miles is going to have you know what you are doing/getting yourself into. He wants you to know fully and understand exactly what is happening and will happen. He has a very structured and well planned after care plan. I needed that. I would rate him a 9.5 right now-like I said he is shoot from the hip and sometimes I would like to see a more personal,affection side to him. But love everything so far.
Dr. Miles was great. He visited me both mornings after surgery. He seems very caring and has a great bedside manner. His office was also very friendly and efficient.
Dr Miles is a very compassonate surgeon who cares very much for his patients and wants to make sure that they totally understand all there is to know about WLS. The office staff has been great and treat you well. Dr Miles requires that you undergo extensive pre surgery testing, such as sleep studies, psychiatric evaluation, and nutrition classes. Dr Miles explains all the risk factors to each patient on more than one occassion. Aftercare is more important to Dr Miles and his staff. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is seeking a surgeon for WLS. Dr Miles and his staff are very involved in the Support Group at Medical Center East.
