hiya everybody! well, all in all it was a very good day :-) jeremy is drinkning sugar free koolaid and keeping it down. he also had choco pudding, too. his white blood count is down to 14.5. he has a fever, but it doesn't seem to go above 100.5. his vent is down to 450... where we wanted it, and they said it will begin to wean him off automatically... so maybe this next week he will be on the vent mask instead. his bed sores still look bad, but they are trying their best at it. he is tolerating being turned now... it still hurts hum, though. they are weaning him off the pain medicines... he should be off of them in about 4-5 days and then he can take them as needed. he has thrush in his mouth... but they claim he has had it for a while, but i just found out. his heart rate was in the 160's yesterday, but now in the 140's... and his blood pressure is holding out well. he can give himself his sippy cup and suction out his own mouth :-) that's an improvement. he has been helping me out with his physical therapy, too. he is awake more and talking sense. muscarella said if he doesn't start eating more soon, then they might put an ng tube down his nose and into his tummy and force feed him, because they want to get him off the tpn. jeremy doesn't like the idea. they are also in talks of maybe going in and washing his abdomen out again... i hope not. it scares me So much to know they might have to put him under again... it took a month to get him this far... i dont want him to start all over again. as for his kidneys... they are doing great. he has been off dialisist for about 4 days now and they aren't planning on putting him back on any time soon. he is putting out 5 liters a day... that's wonderful! they still aren't filtering quite right, but there is still hope. muscarella came in today in a good mood again and it made me feel nice. i even caught a glimpse of his two kids in the hallway (i guess he was called in today). they were cute. :) jeremy keeps asking about Degrassi:TNG (our favorite tv show--Canadian teen drama lol). As for me... we got a note on our door today saying they will need our apartment tuesday morning for a heart transplant paitient and their family. so, we're not sure what to do yet. i'll keep you all updated on where i am. so, jeremy is doing great and i can't wait to take him home with me. we will probably go to dodd hall for rehab(across the street from osu). we still have to kick this infecion in the behind and keep it out. thank you all again so much for everything. now that jeremy is more awake, he has been extremely happy to know of everyone's concerns and their prayers. i'll keep in touch. love, robbi

Hey there everyone! I had an appointment up at OSU today and afterwards I stopped by to see how Jeremy Norman and his family were holding up. Jeremy was pretty out of it. His blood pressure is low and his heart rate is mostly steady but he was having a few problems earlier before I came in to see him. He still has bedsore issues and he spiked a fever today. Roberta told me that they will be doing some more blood tests to figure out what the source of the infection might be. He is still on the vent, but they have turned it down to try to wean him off of it. She says the physical therapy is slow going because he only sees the PT 3 times a week for 10 minutes. It has been helpful that they can stay in one of the apartments that are for the heart center, but apperantly if a heart patient comes in and their family needs a place to stay, they will have to vacate the apartment. The oven in their room doesn't work so they are having to make do with microwaved food. If anyone has a spare toaster oven that they might have, let me know and I will happily bring it to them so they can branch out a bit with their food options and avoid eating out in restaurants. I was amazed at Robbie's positive spirit and sweetness. She is just precious. She expressed her appreciation for all of the help and encouragement they have received from everyone here on OH. Every bit counts towards helping to keep their spirits up. Continue to pray for Jeremy and his family. It looks like they have a long road ahead of them and they can use all of the support they can get. Hugs and God bless, Jaimee

Jeremy, You remain in my prayers. There isn't a day that goes by I don't wonder how you are doing. Now that Robbi has moved to another location it's hard for me to get her on the phone. I hope we can have another update soon. You will overcome this, we all have strong prayers for you.

hello everyone. jeremy is still with us. his white blood count has been stable for the past week... between 19,000 and 17,000... no changes. they said he has a lung and blood infection and if the count goes above 20, then they will have to change all of his lines. i didnt think that was such a big deal, because he has had them done before, but then the nurse told me of all the risks... such as collapsing a lung or striking an artery. he said it is very high risk because jeremy is so heavy and it's hard to find veins on him. he is still on continuous dialisist. he is putting out a lot of urine, so they are giving him lasix to see if it will help. however, his blood pressure has been low lately, so they are afraid of lowering it even more. his heart rate is still high, in the 140's. the vent is now on a different mode. instead of it giving him a specific amount of breaths per minute, it is now on volume control. it makes sure his lungs fill up to a certain volume, which means he is actually breathing on his own. it is on 600 right now and the goal is around 450...then maybe it can be taken off. so i'm praying that will happen this week. as for eating, he hasn't been doing much of it. he gets sick a lot, and i've been following all of the rules exactly. so far he can tolerate skim milk, diluted apple juice and a few bites of baby food... he hasn't had much of an appetite at all... only about 5 bites a day. but he is still on the tpn, so it is not neccessary that he eats 6 times a day. he has been sitting up with his glasses on, watching tv. that's really good :-) i'm so proud of him. he wanted me to sit in bed with him yesterday lol. the other night i was singing our wedding song to him, and he started mouthing the words with me. he is coming around. muscarella took a look at his bed sores and said it looked like fresh tissue underneath, so maybe he won't need surgery for it... we'll just wait and see. my biggest concern is the infections. i pray they will just go away and that there will be no further complications. he has gone through enough. also, the neurosurgeons were in the other day and worked with his right foot. they dont think he had a mini stroke... they think it is a pinched nerve, but they don't know if it is in his leg or in his back. they will have to do testing sometime in the future, but i dont think they are rushing on it, because he is still laying practically immobile. anyway, i think that is all. sorry if i ramble too much, just trying to get all of the info down. his color is good and everyday i ask him if he believes... and he shakes his head yes. as long as he keeps faith... he'll be okay :) love you all. ~robbi

Robbi and Jeremy, You have no idea how many people are praying for y'all. I've been out of work for Christams Holidays since Dec. 17, The first thing my staff ask me this morning was "How is Jeremy?" . I know it's hard to keep the faith when it's been so long , but there is a reason for everything and I know one thing Jeremy's trouble has done, It has caused a lot of people to Pray !!! Love, Judy
