Well, my date has been changed. It is now July 15, 2003 at 7:45am at Washington Adventist Hospital. I'm only slightly dissapointed that it is a little later. I'll be using the time to prepare for surgery. Any suggestions on things I need?

<font color=purple><h2><bold>I'M APPROVED!!!!!!!!!</h2></bold><p>I called Carefirst this morning and the lady said that it looked like I was approved. She said that they put down Dec. 31st as the surgery date, but she said that it could be because my surgeon didn't submit a date. I know that I began seeing specialists and was given a date by the surgeon after they had already submitted the paperwork, so I did not flip out. The insurance lady told me to call the surgeon to have them update with the surgery date. I think I'm going to call back just to make sure. I'm so happy, excited, elated, overjoyed, enthusiastic, and every other good feeling right now. I just pray that others have the same easy time with insurance as I have.</font><hr>

OK, I had my examination and consult with the gastroenterologist (Dr. Elizabeth Myles) today. Everything went well. She reviewed the procedure of RNY. She then explained why she would be doing a "scope" and what exactly would happen/what she would be looking for. I'm waiting for her to call to set an appointment for the Upper GI. Tomorrow, I have an appointment at Mitchellville Radiology for an abdominal ultrasound and a venous doppler flow study. I've had an appointment every day this week (so far.) I called Carefirst today. They said that the computers don't have anything yet, but the lady said that doesn't mean that the information has not been submitted. I think I'll wait 'til Friday to call again. Well, I guess I should get some rest. Thanks to everyone who has sent wonderful messages of support.

Hi everyone! I just wanted to let you know that I had my 2nd visit with my PCP today. I'm 1 pound lighter than my last visit (March 10). She is very supportive. She said that if I don't hear anything from the insurance company in 2 weeks, give her a call, and she'll call to inquire. I have an appointment with a gastroenterologist tomorrow. I don't know what to expect. I'm not having the EGD (or EDG...whatever) tomorrow. I don't even know what that is. The referral for tomorrow says "Evaluation and Clearance". I'll update after my appointment. My sleep study results stated that I have significant snoring and that I need to get more sleep. It also said that the lowest saturation level was 89%. I'm assuming that's good since my PCP said that I don't need CPAP. I'm looking forward to joining the losing side on July 11, 2003. Thanks for supporting me.

I have a tentative surgery date - July 11, 2003 at Washington Adventist Hospital!!!!! Still waiting for approval, but I'm very optimistic!
