Sally..you make me smile..and make me cry..and make me think..you are such a special lady... It's the heart afraid of breaking that never learns to dance. It's the dream afraid of waking that never takes the chance. It's the one who won't be taken, who cannot seem to give, and the soul afraid of dyin' that never learns to live. Thinking of you as you take this step to a happier..healthier life..you deserve this..*hugs*

Sally, Each mountian you must climb to get to the other side will make the reward of the other side more spectacular. Depression is a horrible thing I have suffered with most of my life. Thanks for the understanding words in your post. It actually helps to know others feel the same kind of feelings. I look forward to each post you put on the board, and I pray for you daily. Although the struggle seems impossible and in many ways senseless, keep climbing.. you WILL get to the top! And we will all be there to celebrate with you!

Sally - I always read your posts and I am so sad when I see you having so much trouble. I wish I lived near you...actually I wish you lived near me it is too damn cold up north :) Then you could have a reason to get up OOB everyday cause you could come over to my big momma friendly house and swim in my big momma friendly pool with my doggie that thinks people that can wear bikinis have something wrong with them (evil grin)! Ok, I know that telling you to not give up does not really help, but I am doing it anyway. Just try to tell yourself that you are one more hoop closer, one more hurdle done, one more day over, that this WILL happen and soon.

Sally, please please hang in there! You have invested too much time and money to quit!. I am assuming that you are not able to work as a nurse (or if you are working you are having a difficult time performing the essential functions of your job) and it sounds like you may be eligible for vocational services through your state department of vocational services (may be a different title). Given that your weight is problematic in terms of work the agency may be able to pay for the surgery. I suggest you make a phone call to find out about services. If you get an appointment don't say anything about surgery...just get a feel for the agency and their services. Please feel free to e-mail me for further assistance. You NEED to get out of bed to get this done. You can do it!! Please e-mail me after you read this. Take Care Mari Seattle.

Sally, I am fairly new to this site but your profile really touched me. I have also had the feelings that you do. Where you resigned from your profession, I was fired and I firmly believe that weight was the factor (although I could never PROVE it). Good luck with the PROCESS that we have to go through and hopefully we will both be on the "Loosing Side" soon. Good luck and God bless you..

Sally wow, I really appreciate your honesty. It takes a brave soul to bare all, and you are that person. You will get your surgery and your life will change...please believe that. Now about giving up on nursing. I am a vocational rehabilitation counselor in Washington state. Every state has a department of vocational rehabilitation..or similar name. Anyway they provide funding for retraining for people who have disabilities, physical, psychological. Anyway it appears to me that you would be eligible for their services, and I would encourage you to apply for services. In some states the department will pay for surgery. Please don't give up on nursing. Perhaps after you lost weight that will allow you to function better you could work for a physician who does weight loss surgery. I couldn't think of anyone I would feel more comftorable with that someone who has overcome the barriers that are currently in your way. Please feel free to e-mail me for more information or help!!Mari Seattle

The Famous "SALLY" welcome home~! I'm a newby, but was very impressed with your candid way of expressing how the world treats us and our feelings. I wrote a note about seeing Shallow Hal and hoped you had seen my writing. How I felt you were this Amazing woman who had touched many lives. For those who sent hate mail, the old saying what goes around comes around. Be glad your you, because there are 500+ others who feel the same way.
