Another Stall

Jun 09, 2008

Things have been really good. I have been feeling great and sleeping awesome.   I have become really involved in my church and loving it!!  I have been stuck at 55lbs gone for 9 days now.  But it is so okay.  I am down 2 sizes (somethings 3) and my energy is amazing.  Some days I notice I feel tired and bored, so I just go work out and then I feel so much better...  I went to the gym this am.  Did 30 minutes cardio and 30 minutes weights.  It started my day off right. I also got all smiley faces on myfooddiary!!  (except 1 frown for not eating enough calories, it does not know I had WLS) yippy!!!  Drank 100 oz water..

I got my nosed pierced on Friday.  Been wanting to do it for some time and just went for it... Love it!! It makes me feel sassy...

8 Weeks Out

May 22, 2008

I am really starting to feel normal now with my eating.  I can eat a big variety and just tiny little amounts.  It is sooooo nice.  Went out to lunch yesterday, had a cheese enchilada lunch plate.  Ate about 1/4 of the enchilada and two bites of beans. Had some for breakfast this am and still enough for 1 more meal.  It is amazing.  I am down 47 lbs.  Really noticing a difference now.  I feel great. No BP meds.  Got it checked on Tuesday and the numbers were 114 over 75.  AWESOME!!!

I have been going to the gym more, doing weights and sometimes 45 minutes of cardio. Most days are 30-35 minutes.  I have been sore and feeling so much stronger.  I harldy miss food at all anymore.  I am bored with it though and am always trying to think of new things to eat.

Going camping this weekend.  I plan on taking lots of hikes/walks through the foothills.  My dog is so excited.  She loves it up there!!

6 Weeks Out

May 08, 2008

Already six weeks out.  Time is flying.  I am down 40 lbs as of today.  It is amazing.  Several of my outfits I cannot wear any more.  They are too big and just do not flatter me.  I bought 3 pair of pants and 4 shirts in a smaller size    I can tell now that I am going to have issues with shopping.  Oh Well!!!    I feel really good in my new clothes and have stuff that I haven't been able to wear in years.  It is fun.  I feel great, but I do get tired in the afternoons.  I am loving this new life..

Psuedotumor Cerebri

Apr 30, 2008

Well, I never put anything about this in here because I do not like to dwell on it.  But, the main reason I got the surgery is because I have Psuedotumor cerebri.  I was diagnosed in 2003 and have had daily headaches since.  I lost a significant amount of my hearing because of it.  I have not been taking my diamox since the surgery because I have been feeling great.  However, lately I have had pressure again when I bend over and I have had pain behind my eyes.  My Dr. never told me to quit taking the diamox and I never cleared it with my neurologist either. So, today I started taking it again.  I do believe it is better, but I feel the spinal fluid has adjusted to my new weight and built up again.  So I will keep taking it until I lose about 50 lbs then I will check with the Dr. to get off of it.  Do NOT want my headaches coming back!!     It will be interesting to see how much weight I drop in the next few days.  It is amazing how much the extra spinal fluid adds to my weight.

1 month Out

Apr 28, 2008

Well, yesterday it has been 1 month.  I have been stalled now for almost 2 weeks. Losing and gaining the same two pounds.  Technically I have lost a total of 34 lbs.  16 before surgery and 18 since.  I have been feeling really good and so happy with my decision.  I need to take my measurements today.  I am able to wear clothes I haven't worn in ages and my work clothes are almost falling off. I feel like I have all new clothes.  I haven't been working out as much as I would like, but I am still more active than I have been in years.  I have little to no joint pain and it is wonderful.  I am averaging 800 calories per day and 93 grams of protein.  I track everything.  I have noticed that I am less and less hungry everyday.  So much fun!!

Post Op with Dr. Feng

Apr 19, 2008

Well, I saw Dr. Feng yesterday for the 1st time since my surgery.  He got on my a little bit for eating.  He asked if I was hungry and I said NO.  Then he asked. "then why are you eating?"  I honestly did not have an answer.  He told me I should be able to lose 20 lbs per month for the first 6 months.  He told me to maximize my shakes and eat as little food as possible.  I said I am keeping under 800 calories a day and getting my protein in.  He said I was doing great, but have more shakes and less actual food to allow my stomach to heal and maximize weight loss.

I really paid attention yesterday after I saw him.  I listened to my body and found I was actually rarely hungry.  I then would drink my protein shakes or crystal light and would feel fine.  So guess what?  I stepped on the scale this am and lost another 3 lbs.  VERY HAPPY!!!  On a size note, Dr. Feng told me I looked great about 6 times!!!!    That just made my day!  I am now down 34 lbs.  16 before surgery and 18 since the 27th.  Maybe I can do 20lbs per month

3 weeks out

Apr 17, 2008

Well, it has been 3 weeks today. This week I have been more tired than I have been since the surgery.  I have not lost any weight this week, but I do not care.  I can now do the following things that I couldn't do before:

Pick stuff off of the floor of my car while seated and not having to get out of the car to reach it.

Tie my shoes while standing up.  No issues bending over and I am no longer out of breath.

Walk 2 miles (over half up hill).

Not feel like napping all day long.

Clothes that move and breath because they are no longer too tight.  They are actually kinda big.

I am so glad I did this!

Back to Work

Apr 15, 2008

Officially started work yesterday, but worked from home and was able to nap on and off.  Today I went out and saw my customers.  Lots of getting in and out of my car.  I was very sore when I got home and in need of a major nap. Slept for 1 hr solid and now I feel great again.  I am assuming it will get better each day.  It was nice to return to work.  And a bonus:  All of my work clothes are really loose!!!!

2 Weeks Post Op

Apr 12, 2008

It has been two weeks since my surgery. (I'm writing this a little after the fact)  I am down 30 lbs since I started my pre-op diet.  1 month ago today.  I am thrilled to have lost 30 lbs in 1 month.  I feel so much better.  I am now eating mushy food and I am feeling a lot more satisfied.  I do notice that if I eat too many carbs, I feel very tired and sluggish.  So, I am focusing on adding protein to everything I eat and that has helped a lot.  Whomever put the tofu mac n' cheese recipe on the message board, THANK YOU!  It is delicious and very filling.

Went to the Oakland Zoo on Friday with my niece, my friend and her grand daughter.  We had a blast.  Lots of walking, had a protein drink and some light cheese for a snack.  Was so tired that I went to be that night by 9PM and slept like a rock.  Really enjoying my lighter body.

I go back to work tomorrow.  Looking forward to it. I have been kinda bored.  My mind is definitely going faster than my body, but I am sure it will catch up soon.  I work out of my home and do not have to travel this week, so I can ease back into it.  My boss is being super cool.

11 Days Post Op

Apr 07, 2008

Well, it has been 11 days and I am still feeling great.  I am now drinking thicker liquids.  Mostly soup juice with protein powder in it. I have also had yogurt and mashed potatoes with no problems.  I have not felt full yet.  I measure out 1/4 cup and eat on it for 20 minutes.  I can eat that much yogurt but not that many potatoes.  I am still doing my protein shakes, and drinking more water due to the sodium in the canned soup juice.
I cannot stop exercising!  I know that it is a good thing, but I cannot get my mind around it.  I have been walking 1-2 miles two times a day.  I feel great. My legs are sore, but no issues what- so- ever.  If I start to feel sluggish, I go for a walk.  It is amazing the energy I have.  This thing rocks!!!
