TRACY~~ I have a list of questions to ask your surgeon on my profile page. So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable

Tracy, I had Banding 11/25/02 and lost 25 lbs in the first month and not one more lb since then. It's called a plateau and i am working to start losing again. I am losing inches though so SOMETHING is happening in this body!! My hips hurt really bad from arthritis so I haven't gone walking yet and I KNOW that would jump start my weight loss. Everyone is different and loses at their own pace. I am not giving up and WILL lose this weight. Best of luck to you on this WLS journey! HUGS! Carol Percel

TRACI WORKMAN and questions about not losing any weight, Some people bodies react diffrently to the surgery- and will go on a plateau shortly after surgery. This is frightening- and people post that they haven't lost weight! They do- but the body needs to recover from the shock. I lost on weeks one and two, then nothing for eight weeks. I was having problems getting in food and water, and my body went into "starvation mode". After I healed enough to get in all my water and plenty of protein, I started losing. I have NEVER heard of anyone not losing at all after surgery- but I have heard of plenty who don't lose right away. There are longer term WLS'ers who don't use the tool to change their diet habits and regain after a couple of years. The surgery works for everyone- intitially- after that it's up to you to keep the wieght off or keep losing.
