Tina, I wish that I had some magic advice for you about post-op recovery. I don't have surgery until the 26th. I will keep you in my thoughts and daily prayers. Hang in there, it will get better!

As for my own surgery on the 10th, things went very well. Thank God, and my angel Pat Cowen. At first I was in pain, and then I got to my room and started coming around and things got better. I was discharged Thursday and was running around the ward saying bye to everyone but then....it hit the pain. The morphine was gone, and I was on liquid. I thought I was recovered in 3 days haha. Acutaullay do not be surprised if you have more discomfort your first couple days home. But, I want to get out of the house today and walk walk walk so I think I am doing pretty good. It is a personal desicsion for everyone, and I know i did the right thing. Now, for post-op questions I have, My belly is bloated, how long before this goes away? Also, did anyopne have back pain after surgery that they didn't have before? Last but not least, what are some of the first solid food you have tried that have worked well....I don't getsolids till next week, and what to decide what that first bite is going to be. :) Take Care. I'm ALIVE!!!!!

Angel Update Again: Tina's doing wonderfully well. She was up walking around when I arrived at noon, and very easily got back into her own bed. She has some discomfort, but no real pain and no problems to report. This is a very smooth process. That morphine must be working !! We both agreed that this AMOS board is just the most wonderful emotional support imaginable, and we're both so grateful to have found it. She'll be home in a day or so, and I hope she finds a lot of welcome home posts on her surgery page! thanks -- Pat

ANGEL LANDING HERE!! Tina's out of surgery and doing great! When I got there around 6 pm, she was up and walking around the ward. (Cute socks, Tina!!) Once back in her bed, settled in, she said "You know, it's not so bad". I think she's a poster child for WLS! I'll be back there tomorrow at lunch time (well, my lunch time, I don't think she'll be eating anything!), so I'll print up her page and bring her all your best wishes. You know, you guys at AMOS are really the best, I can see the results of all your good feelings right there in Tina's smiling face. You post-ops know how crappy you feel on surgery day, and yet, even with everything, she was smiling and knowing she's done the right thing for her. AMOS is terrific! Love, Pat
