4 Month Update

Hi Guys!
I've been really busy. I hit the 4 month mark yesterday and I have lost
87 lbs!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't be happier!! Absolutely NO regrets. I feel great and have gone down 4 sizes!. Just got past a week long plateau where I stayed the same (thankful for that). Hubby is doing well too (he didn't have as much as me to lose). He has lost 66 lbs and has plateaued for about 3 weeks. We have our 4 month follow up with Dr. H next week. I will try to post some new pics soon.

Hello,
Just wanted to tell everyone we are 1 month and 2 weeks post op and I have lost 50 lbs!
I couldn't be happier. Donnie has lost 45 lbs! 
We feel great. No regrets. Talk with you later when I have more time.

2 week post-op update

Hello all,
It's now 2 weeks post-op and I've lost 18 lbs since surgery on 12/21/09
. I was already down 20 lbs on the day of surgery so I've lost a total of 38 lbs. WOW! What a difference just losing that much makes with everything! I feel great. I feel more energetic, happy and positive already. Hubby is doing well too he has lost a total of 30 lbs since starting the post-op liquid diet. It seems like it has been longer than 2 weeks since surgery. We went back to work on 1/4/10 so this is our first week back and we seem to be doing well with it. I don't feel hungry so I do have to remind myself to eat during the day. Supper is more difficult trying to be creative with our limited selection of foods but everything must be taken in baby steps right now. Gotta go for now and get ready for work. Have a blessed day.

Hey everybody,
I feel great! I feel better than I did before the surgery! It is so wonderful to not be hungry and "obsessed with eating". I do realize this is the honeymoon phase which will eventually end, but I am enjoying it while I can. Today is officially 1 week post-op. I have lost 30 lbs since beginning the 2 week pre-op diet on 12/14/09 which I weighed in at my all time high of 303 lbs (after our Disney World vacation and the Disney Dining Plan!). On surgery day I weighed in at 283 lbs, down 20 lbs in 2 weeks! Donnie has lost a total of 28 lbs. He is feeling weak when he does too much activity so we are going to address that with Dr. H.
Tomorrow is our 1st follow up with Dr. H and we will finally get "Parolled from our Liquid Diet Prision Sentence"
. We have been faithful 
but are more than ready to move on! So far I have experienced no nausea or vomiting and haven't had to use any pain medication since I came home. We are using the treadmill every day for short periods at a time and putzing around the house for bloodclot prevention. Until next time....take care

We Made It !!!

We made it! We had surgery at Bothwell Monday and came home Wednesday. The worst part is all of the air left in the abdomen to get out, and it seems to take it's time. No complications, so thank you for all your prayers. The nurses made us feel like a "celebrity couple". I cannot express in enough words how good, competent, caring & attentitive the staff were at Bothwell. Of course Dr. H and Margie were great as always. Our experience was terriffic! We are doing well on the liquid diet with no nausea or vomiting. Our follow up is Tuesday 12/29. Thanks again for your e-mails of thoughts and prayers.

2 Weeks to go!!!

We had a wonderful trip to Disney World and as soon as we got back had to start our 2 week liquid diet. Can't say we've ever had to to this kind of thing before. It helps that both of us are doing this together. We had our "anesthia appointments" on 12/8/09. Wow...I was very impressed with the process. Can't say we have ever been so throughly checked for a surgery. Only 10 days to our surgery and it can't come too soon. Please keep us in your thoughts and 
prayers on the 21st.

We were approved for surgery on September 18th. 
Margie submitted everything and it only took about a week. Our surgery is scheduled for December 21st - ladies first Margie told me. If it wasn't for our trip to Florida December 1st, we would already have had it done, but we are looking forward to the trip and having surgery 2 weeks after we return. We have our anesthia appointments on Dec 8th at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

My husband and I had our EGD's done by Dr. Hornbostel on 7/22/09 and all went well. Just one more step towards our goal of surgery. Looks like we will have the "formalities" done by the end of August and then it will be time to submitt them to our insurance company. Hopefully we will know if we've been approved by the middle of September. All of this waiting is driving me crazy!

Donnie and I had our 1st appt. with Dr. Hornbostel on 6/16/09. 
We received our RNY information notebooks. The Dr. and his wife Margie are just great. Dr. H was again very informative and explained the pre-op and post-op information and allowed us time for any questions we may have. We now only have 2 more visits with our PCP, an EGD & the Dietitian and we will have met our requirements needed for Margie to submit it to our insurance "Coventry of Kansas". We are getting very excited!
