REVERSED GASTRIC BYPASS 6 DAYS AGO

Jun 11, 2011

Reversed my gastric bypass 6 days ago on 6-6-11 after three years. I feel so much better already! I am slowly rejoining the living. My energy is starting to come back and best of all that awful mental fog and severe memory problems are lifting. I guess I am someone who can not do without my duodenum. I am lucky that my surgeon stayed with me and agreed to the reversal and that my insurance paid. I had constant diarrhea and incontinence and could not leave my house. I ate small amounts constantly because it would show up in the toilet undigested a few hours later. I took massive amounts of vitamins and protein supplements to keep up my health for the reversal I knew I would need, but I still never resumed my normal life after the bypass, even housework was just too much. I was a semi-invalid and felt awful everyday. I only lost 65 lbs , my diabetes never reversed and it was not worth it, I had all kinds of unexplained health problems that I think were caused by the bypass, like swollen lymph nodes, severe burning urine for 9 months, slow healing of wounds, dry burning eyes, and many arthritic symptoms that required cortisone shots because bypass people can't take ibuprofen. My disbelieveing primary care Dr. had me tested for everything under the sun (TB, AIDS, hepatitis) she refused to believe that the bypass and all that undigested food could cause long term problems, but I knew because this all started the day i woke up from bypass surgery. Already my skin is turning soft again. The Dr. said I can take ibuprofen when I heal. I worry about weight gain but so far I still feel like I have a little pouch for a stomach. I will try my best not to gain. The Dr. offered me a lap band in the future but I am through with weight loss surgery. Sorry I ever did it.

BYPASS REVERSAL OK'D TODAY- YEA!

May 04, 2011

2 1/2 years after bypass, I finally got ok for reversal surgery. I thought I was going to be the most successful gastric bypass patient my Doc. ever had because I had been slim my first 40+ years of life and even during my obese years I could diet off 80-90 Lbs. but i couldn't keep it off for more than 2 yrs. My Doc in Las Vegas has his own center and a good reputation. He did a good surgery but it went bad for me from day 1. One month after surgery I was in my primary Docs Ofc. saying "I feel AWFUL. I have no energy, My memory is gone, my mind is foggy and I have non-stop diarrhea" Both of us thought it was just too soon after surgery and that I should wait awhile. The next Yr. I went to 3 support group meetings a month and described my problems, but no one else had them. They tried to cheer me up, and I kept a positive attitude for 1 year. After that, I started to say "If you can't help me or make me better I want this surgery reversed." Then started every test you could imagine and blood tests over 20 times. Nothing was found wrong but by then I knew that cutting my stomach and intestines was a bad decision for me and was not going to get any better. I had to stay home because I stank from all of the gas I passed. I can not control my bowel movements because they are watery with undigested food in them. I have only minutes to get to the bathroom when I first sense I need to go and I have had accidents in my pants, my bed, in my car, at the store more times than I can count. My self-esteem is very low but I didn't give up hope that I could be helped. Thanks to this website and others, I learned that I am not alone and I am not that unusual. I can't wait to feel like I used to again. The Doc. offered me a lap band in the future in case I gain all 70 lbs back but I am through w/bariatric surgery. My insurance WILL COVER THE REVERSAL. Boy am I happy today.
