I had my RNY October 2009. I have been overweight all of my life ( well there was that time right before my wedding that I was bulemic and got down to a size 18 and was happy). I was pretty nervous about this surgery, but I did it for me and am so glad now!
I, myself, was adopted  as an infant so when my husband and I couldnt have children, adoption was already in our minds. We have adopted 7 kiddos. Some have some behavioral problems and some are just fine, but they keep us busy. They range from age 23 down to age 6. I teach adoption and foster care classes for the state of Missouri. My adoptive mother eventually became morbidly obese and literally died from its complications. That made me decide to go through with my surgery.
I live about an hour from Kansas City. The Air Force sent us here to this area and we stayed after my husband retired. He was in 20 years.
I am also going back to college now, majoring in Psychology. I would like to be a family therapist eventually.
I have a new puppy too...a Pomerania who has a chewing fetish. We live in the country and have 2 cows and a donkey.
My faith in Christ is the most important thing to me, but I am still just a sinner saved ( and so thankful for) grace.
Humor and encouragment are probably two of my best traits.
And I learned how to ad my pic on here and got a ticker...I had one of the kids help me, but I did it! I started out at 303lbs  and am down to 244 lbs now. I am amazed how much diference that has made. I already have some WOW moments. (Sitting in a movie chair comfortably, looking at myself in the mirror and walking away and coming back...and its still there!! the new me!) I dont have many problems with my surgery, and I try to get in all the pills. I struggle withthe water and protien though. ANd walkingis my fav exercise.
Looking forward to getting to know many people on thier own journey. Angela
