I am hoping to have bariatric surgery. I am in the process of gathering medical records from various doctors and the other necessary paperwork to file with my insurance company. I go to Dr. Gluck's WLS seminar tonight. (6/7/07).  I've been to one of these before, but it sounds like this one will be more detailed and of course it is a requirement.

I am currently about 150 pounds overweight. I'm at 303, 5'8" tall with a BMI of 46. I have high blood pressure, severe sleep apnea, depression and my mobility and ability to enjoy life is greatly hampered by my size. I'll be 35 in July and I don't want the rest of my life to be like this. I am married and I have four children. I want to be there for my family and be able to run & play with the kids instead of just sit there or huff & puff trying to keep up.

August 2008
This has been a long process for me. In May 2007 I started this journey. I was denied the surgery by my insurance company and told to complete the 6 month doctor supervised weight loss program. I completed that in February 2008. I first saw the surgeon in March 2008 and started the other testing and necessary appts. After all of that was turned in I finally got approved on May 23, 2008......almost exactly one year from when I first started the process. It took several weeks to get a surgery date. My surgery is 9/2/08......the day after Labor Day and the day my kids start back to school. Not at all an ideal time, but the first I could get. I so look forward to getting on with my life once I drop some serious pounds and the health problems drop away too. I want to be there for my kids, my husband and myself.
