In all things Remember, that the one above loves you, that He holds us all in his loving arms,He knows each of us by name.He said anything you ask for in "my name" will be given to you.So in His name I pray for you, that you be given strength, endurance, love, peace and most of all long life.In Jesus' name. When you wake up and see the faces of your loved ones in the recovery room, know that you have made it.Thank Him,Know that you have been blessed to see and to live out the rest of your days with the ones you love and the ones who love you.....Knowing that He loves you too. Happy soon to be ReBirthday.

On 6/9/02 I joined millions of others who have had WLS. I had had previous banding and after 5 years of success I started gaining. In February I was diagnosed with diabetes which sent me scrambling to find an answer to my obesity. I did not want to fight the losing battle with diabetes as had my brother and mother. It is ironic that to avoid death from diabetes I came so close to death from the surgery. When I woke up I was told that my stomach where the previous banding had been was very "friable". Dr. Kerlakian felt that it was very possiple I was not going to make the connection because trying to put sutures through my stomach was like trying to suture butter. I ended up in ICU with multiple tubes, being fed through a gastro tube placed in my stomach. I had another tube keeping all secretions out of my stomach and finally to fill out my tube situation I had 2 jp drains(drains into the stomach) in case the fluid started to collect in my abdomen. Sounds pretty gross huh. I spent 10 days in ICU like that. Then I had a leak test and the tubes started coming out. Today I came home and I want to say I am extremely grateful to many people. First to God for answered prayers. Second to Dr Kerlakian for taking extreme care in my situation, I have no doubt he saved my life. Third to Greg for without him I would not be, for he gave me the will to fight. Fourth to the staff of the hospital from the same day surgery department, through surgery, into recovery, especially to the ICU nurses, and finally my last 2 days on the floor. These people were professional and caring. I am now on the losing side. weighed 267 this morning before I left. Even though times were tough I hope now I will be able to use this tool to have a healthier life. Thanks to all of you that sent out prayers and good luck to the many of you just starting your journey.

Thanks for the well wishes. 9 1/2 hours and I'll be joining the greatest group of losers I've ever had the priviledge of knowing. Finding this web site and circle of friends was definitely a Godsend.
