Greetings! I'm a 44 year-old who has struggled with weight since my mid-twenties. I have polycystic ovarian syndrome which includes such fun symptoms as high blood pressure and cholesterol, insulin resistance, infertility, comorbid skin disorders, and male pattern hair growth. In addition, I battle clinical anxiety and acid reflux, both made worse by my weight. I have never been one of those people who gains and loses. I have simply gained about two to three pounds every year. That didn't seem so bad in my thirties, but now, at 195 - I'm on the edge of a very tall mountain. One good push and I will go tumbling down the edge. So, I decided to take control after years of failed diet attempts and started learning more about bariatric surgery. Because of my acid reflux, I have chosen gastric bypass. I hope to jump through all the insurance hoops by January and have the surgery at the end of January or beginning of February. I'm looking forward to learning more from others and sharing the journey with those who truly understand what it's like to live with weight related illnesses!
