Anyone have any tips on taking Omneprazole

Good Morning! I am two weeks post op and everything is going well....except taking my omneprazole.  So weird I have never had a gag reflex but when i break this baby open and take it...it is all I can do to keep it in.  I have tried sugar free jello, chocolate pudding, and vanilla pudding with no success.  About 1 second after I take it I get the gag reflex.  Is there something else I can ask my doc for or a better way to take it? Thanks All

I took liquid prilosec immediately post-op.  I also had no issues swallowing small pills.  So asking your doc about those things is a good idea!

They've had me swallowing the whole pill since the day I left the hospital (2 days post op). Maybe check with your doctor but you might be able to take the whole pill.

Thanks that would be so awesome...I am starting to dread mornings because of it.  Nasty stuff!

apple sauce. I happened to take protronix and they were these little beads. I put it in like a tbsp. of apple juice and took it down like a tequila shot LOL. If you are having issues definitely talk to your surgeon, though.

Ah have not tried applesauce.  I will try anything to try to get it down.  Mine is little beads as well and I have never tasted anything so gross! Oh and I will pretend it is tequila...that will be much more pleasurable...haaha

I believe it's a med that you're not supposed to open the capsule anyway.  Check with  your pharmacist.  But are you not able to just swallow it?

I see the doc tomorrow but they are the ones who told me to break it open.  I hope they tell me I can swallow it as it is horrible. Thanks for the help!
