Guelph Question
Hi folks ~ just wondering if those who had surgery in Guelph ON could comment giving me an idea of the approximate time between when their doc made their referral to the bariatric network and you received your call to go for an info session in Guelph and any other time frames (i.e. from then to actual surgery date) you could share. I know it varies by individual, just trying to get a rough idea for a family member. Thanks in advance and have a great day :-)

I went through Guelph and it took about a year and a half from referral to surgery. Look at my signature line for specific times. Good luck. Take this time to research, research, research how your life will change, the adjustments that you will have to make, what to expect throughout the process and post op (you don't want surprises) establish good eating habits now, start breaking addictions to caffeine, pop, sugar. Start moving now, maybe walking, or swimming, or whatever you can do, just start, it will get easier. That is what I tried to do and I think it really helped me as well as the wonderful support here at OH. Am I perfect, hell no, I am a work in process like everyone else. But as long as you're trying everyday, then you are succeeding I believe.

Referral to Guelph Feb/13, Sleep study and all bloodwork and ultrasound May/13, orientation July/13. Nurse, NUT,SW Sept/13, 2nd NUT, nurse and SW, 3rd round and cleared for surgery Dec/13. Pre-op Apr 7/14, Surgeon May 2/14, Opti Jul 3/14, surgery Jul 17/14.
Things are speedier in Guelph these days. All my dates are in my signature, but just over 7 months from orientation to surgery.
At my April orientation, they said the average time was 9-10 months.

My referral was made June 9th and my orientation was July 31 I got a letter in the mail 2 weeks before orientation to notify me of the orientation date and time.... I had my first appt with the nurse Aug 11 and the other 2 Sept 11 and I see the three of them again on October 19th so things seems to be moving fairly quickly
I was referred in November of 2012 and I had my orientation in Feb of 2013. You can see the rest of my timeline in my Signature. I had my surgery in July 2014. In the end, I was happy I had that amount of time to get my head on straight.
