Nosebleeds?

 Happy Sunday.

Quick question, just looking for imput.

For some odd reason, I have had 3 nosebleeds today ( I haven't had one since 9 or 10 years old...I'm 33).

There has been no change in my environment, no NSAID use, no facial trauma etc.  Just can't figure out what might be causing them suddenly.

Does anyone know if there is any possiblity if it is vitamin or iron related?

Thanks.

Hi Liz,

I would right away suggest a dry enviroment, especially since many of us had more heat on yesterday than we likely had all weekend.  It may be dryer than you think.  You may want to try some saline nose drops once or twice a day and see if that helps.

A second consideration may be a transient spike in blood pressure but that is doubtful since a majority of us post-op WLS trend to hypotension more than hyper.

but then again I am not an expert in this field.

I do hope someone can shed some light.

If it continues consider a trip to your physician.

I had a quick look at some medical sites for you. It seems like almost anything can cause a nosebleed! I've only ever had one in my life, when I broke my nose when I was 13, so it's not something I have much experience with. It looks like if it only happens today, then it is probably just dry air, or even just blowing your nose too hard can bring one on. If it continues to happen though, there is a chance it could be related to deficiencies in vitamin C or K, calcium, or be anemia related. How did your most recent labs look?
