Considering Pregnancy

Hello - I'm 17 months post op and have lost 140 pounds. I'm 31 years old and have never had a child. When I first learned about gastric bypass, the recommendation I read was not to get pregnant until 18 months after surgery. When I saw my surgeon in April, he said after a year it can be safe. He also said there just wasn't a lot of research on pregnancy after this surgery and he has only had about a dozen of his patients have a baby after the surgery. He indicated he would work closely with my OB GYN on things and felt I would be perfectly safe to get pregnant at any time. My husband and I have decided to start trying in November. I just want to hear stories, good and bad, from others who have had a baby after gastric bypass surgery. I'm nervous because I've never had a baby, but on top of that I'm worried about how my having this surgery might effect things. Any advice or suggestions you can offer will be helpful. Thank you! ~Jill
