Did anyone really need

 a pill crusher? After talking to the bariatric coordinator she told me my multis were big & to run to my pharmacy to get a pill crusher! Really? Will my tummy not accommodate them well? She had RNY so I wasn't sure if she was remembering her past! Thanks in advance!

I just cut big horse pills in half but didn't crush them after trying it once. OMG! Nasty!

I don't own a pill crusher or splitter.

I have never cut or crushed my multi.  I did take the citracal petites at first, though.  The regular calciums are pretty large.

 So it can be done! Thanks for giving me hope!

I got one, they told me not to take any pills larger than my pinkie nail but then gave me this antibiotic for h.pylori that had in RED on the box that the pills were not to be cut or split and they were larger than the dang multis and calcium.

I called, they said, absolutely do not cut the antibiotics in half or crush them EVER so I just shrugged, figured what the hell and started downing pills whole at three days out and never looked back.

I did crush one multivitamin, and if you were wondering, they are made of unadulterated evil the kind that makes you wish you didn't own a tongue.

GACK . Nope, NEVER crushed a pill. I chopped a few in half, but only for a little while.

Tina is a lovely lady and tries hard to keep in mind differences between RNY and DS. It doesn't always work, but she works at it. She's always very gracious when these differences are pointed out to her.

 This was Tina Marie. I meant to say the bariatric RN program coordinator. I looked at her like she had 4 eyes! I will not be crushing! Like you say, maybe cut in 1/2 if I must, but that's as far as it goes. Never met a pill I couldn't swallow!

Oh that's right, she has a double name. That's who I meant :-). You might be a few days or even a week or two before you can reliably swallow pills, but you'll be fine. I swallow them by the handful now.
