If you mix it into the hot coffee, it will likely clump.  Try dissolving the powder in warm water first and then slowly adding the hot coffee to that, stirring the entire time.

Mixed in well no clumping. I just hate protein powder. I'm sure it's all in my head but still

You could also try some liquid protein supplements that would possibly mix better.

I bought some nectar unflavored protein powder today and put it in some broth I couldn't taste the powder at all. The only thing is it only has half the protein in it than the flavored powder. I chose this because it doesn't have any artificial sugar in it which bothers my stomach.

I love protein powder in my coffee! I let it cool a little so it doesn't get lumpy,  then shake in my blender bottle with a little cream and sweetener,  sometimes sf syrup. I drink it hot or on ice.

What protein powders are you using? I use Body Fortress Super Advanced whey protein from Walmart that tastes fine to me. I mix it with non-fat milk for breakfast, and with non-fat pain yogurts. I've now lost 32lbs before surgery using this.
