Pre-op diet question
I am scheduled for lapband on Jan. 14th and start the preop diet this Friday. I want to shop in preparation but while my nutrionist recommended using a diet frozen dinner such as Lean Cuisine I want to make sure that I stay within allowable limits. However, I can't find any info other than "low fat dinner" on the preop menu sheet. Does anyone know how many calories max it should have?
Thanks!
Thanks!
I was sleeved on 12/14 by Dr Pohl, (Giovanni's partner in crime) and had the same pre-op diet...I actually used Lean Cuisine Dinnertime Selects (larger than the little entree alone packages), most w/protein, starch & veg...some had desserts...I had gone up to 330 from my 320-324 avg and was back to 320 in 1 week, 310 by day 12 and 307 day of surgery...they average 280-330 calories...
The other guideline is, if you want to prepare your own...3 oz protein, 1/2 cup each of fresh veg & starch. Just make sure you do the 3 protein shakes a day & you'll be fine!
Congratulations & good luck!

I agree with James. Munroe Diary sells individual packs of chicken breasts and pork tenderloin which are 3 oz when cooked. It's easier to buy those then to weigh out large pieces of meat. Also, Lean Cusine now makes a steamed dinner which may be more healthy than the ones which go into the microwave.
I was banded on Dec 7, 2010. Good luck!

Hey Becky!
An average low fat / healthy meal has around 300 cals and the fat content should not exceed 5-10% of your calories.
If you choose any of the Smart Ones or Lean Cuisines. You will be within the 'guidelines'. No worries.
James has an excellent suggestion too. I found that making my own meals during the pre-op stage was much more enjoyable because I could control the Cals, Fat & Carbs as well.
Hey,,,,hit a meeting for more suggestions!
Hugz!
