Hi all!
When the time comes, I am considering getting a reduction. I am currently a 42DDD and I don't seem to be shrinking in cup size AT ALL. I am 43 y/o and we are done having children so I really don't need them anymore the purpose they were intended for . I would really like to hear about some of your experiences, good or bad, if you've had a breast reduction.

Thanks.

Hi there, I had a brest reduction about 8 years ago and it was the best thing that ever happenend to me... after the fist few weeks of soreness it gets better. Dont get me wrong sorness felft more from the brusing.. the first few weeks had to sleep on my back or tuck a pillow under my brests just for comfortable as I slept on my tummy before.(its NOT Pritty brusing)
It was hart to reach like put your shoes on or turn the tap on in the bath tub lol some things I just chuckled that I could not do.. it gets better. then about 3 months latter I had to go back for a re-touch just FOR ME that there was more sculputred  under the arms as I was a F size? who knew there was a F size? I was always tring to get into a 42 DDD lol
but after that sergery there was an infection, nothing crazy just took some penicillinn a week and it was all gone.

Would I do it again? DAM yes after 8 years I dont have to wear a bra around the house if I dont want too.. And I never have to worry about my BACK pain and I dont sufficate sleeping on my back LOL
You know what I mean lol non the less Ii had no real problems and I would do it again if I had too.. But its up to everyone individualy...good luck

Thank you for sharing! I have only lost about half of my extra weight and am hoping that my breasts will shrink, but so far they are staying the same and just "heading" south if you know what I mean  .

I was a 42G. Yes there is such a letter! I had a reduction in July. Best decision ever after the band. I didn't lose all the weight I wanted to before choosing to do it but I'm glad I didn't wait any longer. They took 6 lbs. off my breasts. Now a small C and happy, happy, happy! Yes, the first 8 weeks are rough. Hard to move arms and soreness is tough. Sleeping in the beginning is hard because you need to be somewhat upright on your back but it goes by fast. I wish I did it much sooner. No longer have those globes moving to the sides when I sleep. And yes, not an issue to go braless. Check out breasthealthonline.org. It really helped me prepare for and get through the recovery. Best of luck to you!

Thank you! This is my exact size and what I want to be. I am waiting on insurance approval. My doctor said that she would remove at least 700g from each breast. I so hope its covered! I cannot wait to go braless! I was a DD when I graduated high school. Its time! Working on losing weight but its slow going. She encouraged me to have the surgery and then focus on it. Lose what I can but not make that a prerequisite. Thanks again!!

Jen,

I had a breast reduction about 6 months before my band surgery. The back pain I'd been having from lugging the jugs around immediately disappeared. The amount removed from each breast was dictated by my insurance company, and it took quite a while to get used to the new girls (but since I've lost weight everywhere else, they look just right now). According to my PS, I'm a "bleeder" so the procedure took a lot longer than expected and being anesthetized so long made me feel like I'd been run over by a truck. The incisions were extensive and painful, and my mobility was limited for a while, but I've heard other people say their BR was easy.  I'm very glad I had it done, anyway. Since working as a bra fit specialist at JC Penney and working with so many big-breasted customers, I've realized that my clothes fit a lot better since my reduction. I used to have to buy bigger tops to fit over my boobs, but the bigger neckline would fall off my shoulders. Shirts don't come unbuttoned in the front any more, either.

Some areas in my incisions took a long, long time to heal, but now the scars are minimal. Since losing weight, the excess skin under my arms drapes over my BR incision, but it's not awful and anyone who shoves their face under my arm to look at my flab is going to regret it.

 Hi Jen:

I had a breast reduction and life in March of 2006, 4 yrs after my RNY.  I went from like a 44DD to a 36/38 C.  If you search my profile, you can read more. I can even share the pics with you. They are on there but hidden right now.  The surgery was a piece of cake, I walked home from the procedure.  I also had my arms done at the same time. I think I had it done on a Wed/Thurs and went back to work on Monday.  My suggestion is to do in the winter or the fall bc you have to wear a sports bra for 6+ wks and since I did my arms as well, you have to waer these arm bandages. That was, when summer or spring comes, you can bare/show all.

Oh, ps, even with the weight gain of 65lbs from 2007 to 2011 and now the 50lb lost from the band, the boobs have faired pretty well. The scars are minimal and I can still go braless.

Let me know after checking out my profile if you want me to share the pics.

Jen~

I'm a year out of my reduction. I went from a 42 G to a 38B now. The surgery was a piece of cake and hardly took any pain meds. It was more discomfort and the bra you have to wear after isn't the most comfortable. You do have to sleep on your back for awhile but I now am more comfortable that way. I'm so grateful I had it done. The things I can wear now are amazing. I wore a sports bra for a long time and just started wearing an underwire about 6 weeks ago. My best advice is get in lots of protein and it will help you recover quicker and I drank ho****er with lemon & one stevia in the mornings to help with swelling issues. In the beginning you will look at them and think "these look bigger than they said they would!" Once the swelling goes down you will look completely different. It takes about 6 months for them to drip start to get their true shape. Check out breasthealthonline. Great info and support!

I was just talking to a friend about breast reduction surgery and she gave me some really good insight on how you can prevent anything from going on. She had issues because doctors didn't do a mammogram before hand and during surgery they found a lump, causing problems. She suggested I read this article. Thought you might like it to. it lists the 5 things you should know about breast reduction surgery.
