Let me preface this post by saying I KNOW ice cream isn't on the band diet , but I have to treat myself once in a while. So as long as I don't make it a habit...

Anyway, does anyone else get stuck on ice cream? I now have a terrible time getting it down. If it keeps up, it may no longer being the treat it once was....

The creamier the harder it is for me.  I think it has something to do with being so cold too.  It makes my band go brrrrr and it closes up.

OMG..I would hate to be too tight for ice cream.  I rarely have it but Blue Bell's Nutty Chocolate is such a treat. Now instead of eating two bowls, I just have a scoop.    ya gotta live!
Are you tight on any other "slider' foods?.  Maybe you need a slight unfil. I would, cuz I will never ever totally give up ice cream.

5.0 cc in a 10cc lapband  (four  fills) 1 unfill of .5cc  on 5/24/2011.
.5 fill  March 2012. unfill of .25cc May 2012.  Unfill of .5cc June 2014.

Still with my lapband with no plans for revision. Band working well since

last small unfill.

Nope.  I don't have issues with anything else consistantly really.  Rice is usually a problem, but I'm one of the strange people who can eat bread, pasta and other things most have trouble with and I don't have any trouble at all.

Sigh.  I LOVE ice cream.  This could make me sad.  At least for a few minutes.

I am the same way on occasion.  It's a good thing too because I was an ice creamaholic!

I believe it has nothing to do with being tight its the cold for me it happens when I drink something real cold and a lot at one time

you're human..... who can refrain from a treat on occasion???? not me.
anyway, i think it's the cold, too. If you can eat a yogurt, then it probably would not be the creaminess. I left a water bottle in my car and it was on the verge of freezing with chunks of ice in it. i took a big swig of it and it felt stuck and hurt. i think it's the cold.  for me, at least.

So.. here's an idea..... try freezing a tub of cool whip. it is low in calories and low carb. Often, not always, when I have an ice cream craving, I will put 2 heaping tablespoons in a small cup and add some rediwhip (lol, its 15 calories a serving) and a couple of sprinkles for good measure and i am satisfied (most of the time). AND the thing about cool whip is, it's temperature does not get as low as ice cream. for some reason, not that i care at all about the science behind it, it does not get freezing cold when frozen.

You may not care about the science but I'll explain it anyway.

If the cool whip and ice cream are in the same freezer, then the laws of thermodynamics dictate that both will reach the same temperature.  However, cool whip, being mostly air, is much less dense than the ice cream (in science speak, it has less "thermal mass").  Therefore it does not take much heat to warm it up.  This has the effect of making it appear less cold when it's actually just that the heat from your mouth/finger/whatever warms it up much more quickly than with the ice cream.

For me its the COLD stuff that I have trouble with.  Thats why I have to have my cup of hot coffee in the mornings before I can even think about eating anything.  I am also a ICE CREAM ADDICT.  I think this is God's way of keeping me accountable for how often I "treat" myself to my addiction. LOL  sugar free jell-o and s.f. pudding have become my friends now.  I slurge sometimes and buy it ready-made, but most of the time make it myself at home and put it in little 1/4 cup serving plastic dishes.  Just the right size for a little desert.
