Home Sweet Home!!!
Surgery....wow was I in for a rude awakening. I thought I'd be up and about right after surgery....try more like the next morning. I think the anesthesia really kicked my butt and that morphine too. I needed to stay over an extra night but that worked out since I wasn't getting a lot of fluid down.
My little sis would stop by my room and get me up to go walking with her and that was nice! By the time we left the hospital I think I only took one pain killer and that was it! I've been taking more of the anti nausea meds just to be on the safe side, as well as all of my vitamins!!! Other than a little ache and pain here and there, I'm just peachy.
Liquids is tough but it's not that I'm hungry. I just see something or smell it and I want to eat it. So I settle for smelling instead! After all, we were in the middle of San Francisco. I knew food had a psychological and emotional hold on me but I never realized how much until now. I love my new tool!!!
Thank you to Dr. C, Nicole, Amy, Leila and the great staff at CPMC for taking such great care of my little sis and I. We did it!!!
I'm going back to work on Wednesday, I'm an Office Manager and I usually sit all day anyway. But that's all about to change once I'm cleared to exercise....more than the walking we're already doing. Boy do my calves hurt!
Well I just wanted to check in and I look forward to going through this new and fantastic journey with you all!!!!
Blessings,
Puna
P.S. Does anyone have any tips on how to make protein drinks just a bit more tastey??? Or is that an oxymoron???
Make a pregnancy ticker
I agree that the entire staff at CPMC and Dr. C and his entire staff are absolutely fantastic... as well as the hotel staff!! Did we forget anyone? Ah, yes... even those wonderful cab drivers of SF!!!
Keep walking and sipping... it's the road to success and it's one heck of a journey! You're gonna love it!
Making protein drinks more tasty... hmmmmmm.... I still use the bullets (42g) mixed with SF Kool Aid for my daily morning water bottle. Lasts me all morning... nice slow consumption of protein, and I have no problem with the taste and it guarantees me half my needed protein for the day.
The shakes seem to be really individual preferences. Some people like some... some hate the same but love another.... some hate all. Bottom line... get in your protein first no matter what or how you choose. You need it to heal. Just find something you like and accept it. Besides, it's going to be a lifetime love affair! your tastes may change along the way, so never buy in too large of quantities.
Malama pono & a hui hou!
I'm glad you're back and settled, Puna! It was great to meet you and your sister. I'm so happy to hear of your pleasant stay and happy with your care. Give me a call if you have any questions, or feel free to post your questions on here. Keep those fluids up!
Aloha,

Welcome back Puna! Glad to hear everything was uneventful. Isn't that a bunch of great docs and nurses over there?
Take it easy too. I know you want to hurry and excercise but your body is now going thru massive changes. First off your calorie intake is drastically changed so you may try to(once cleared by the doc)go all out and excercise but be careful. At first when I was overdoing it, i would get lightheaded to the point of almost passing out. But it all passed a few months out when my body was loosing as much and things started to level off.
I'm so happy for you and your lil sis. You will definately be amazed at how well you feel. And the kids with their activities will be easy to keep up with!
Call me. We should do a beach day soon.....maybe when you are ok'd for mushies.....that way you can eat too. My treat!.......LOL........you are officially now a "cheap date".........LOL
