Betsy Blair Psychologist Psy.D.
I would rate Betsy Blair as zero stars. By far the worst "professional" medical expert/psychologist I have ever encountered. Not only did she do the bare minimum in our sessions, but she never provided any concise answers to my questions. I often found myself asking her questions relating to my condition and she would, in turn, ask "followup questions" that would direct away from my inquiry. I would end up leaving our sessions and realize that she in no way answered my question. She is manipulative and serves only her own agenda. When people ask me about seeing a therapist for my issues, they have no idea that it is doctors like Betsy Blair who make finding one absolutely frustratingly IMPOSSIBLE. Now I have to start all over from first base to find another doctor, who will see my previous records and whatever "notes" Blair put in, which could easily make my life far more difficult.
Aug. 3, 2024Dr. Blair knew she was a 2nd opinion for me, and I had had a negative 1st. She started from the beginning as though I had not been through an assessment before. We went over a lot of the changes I have made, and my reasons for wanting surgery. We discussed in length my eating disordered history, and while they are concerns she indicated that I am well aware of my triggers and know when I need to seek help (therapy) and/or medication. She did explain how people do try to "cheat" the band, and understood why I don't see that as an option at this point.
Since Dr. Blair is in the bariatric center program, this is what she does all day. It is my understanding that she soley sees bariatric patients and therefore has great experience. She knows the questions to ask and what to look out for. I felt that she was best suited for this evaluation, and I don't feel that going to a psychologist who wasn't as well versed on the subject would have been nearly as beneficial.
