William Medick Psychologist Ph.D.
I called Dr. Medick on Thursday and told him I would be going to Ypsilanti for my consult on Monday.(6+ hours from home) He arranged to meet me on a Saturday at a an office he shared only half an hour from Ypsilati--to save me another trip down!! He was great. He was more informative about what to expect before and after surgery than my surgeon! I would highly recommend him. His cost was 150 at time of service you have to bill your insurance yourself. This covers the consult, letter to your surgeon, requirement for my insurance to cover bariatric surgery AND any time you need him call him! He's worth alot more than $150 even if you dont get reimbursed. Also he told me to check out obesityhelp.com
My impression...a well educated, experienced psychologist that knows his way around bariatric surgery patients. He has his interview down pat and goes through it with precision. I'm sure he must have a sense of humor but doesn't indicate so while interviewing me. I think he probably has a dry sense of humor. He seems to be so busy doing is work thoroughly, making sure he gets everything he has to covered before he sees the next person, that he seems to hide his personality. I believe he is a caring person and will be available if I need to talk to him but it takes time to warm up to him. I think he has a dry sense of humor hiding under the surface of his professional face.
I first met Dr. Medick at a public seminar conducted by the CORI Centers in Warren. There were 2 other Psychologist attending this meeting who work with CORI Centers in providing the Psyc Evaluations.
I felt very comfortable speaking with Dr. Medick. He also informed me that he is available at any time post op to answer any questions or concerns I have or am facing. This is a great support that I am looking forward to receiving as I progress.
The Bariatric Treatment Center in Ypsilanti, MI referred me to Dr. Medick. I had BCBS and they would not reimburse me for my $200 fee stating that, "this psychologist has a limited license". Apparently my plan does not pay for consultations by a limited licensed Physician/Psychologist. Check with your insurance company first if you hope to be reimbursed for this expense.
