Tracy Grant Psychologist Ph.D.
Tracy now has a private practice in Fishkill. While I have not had surgery yet I saw her for a couple of months late 2004/early 2005. She is very supportive of WLS and has done numerous pre-surgery consults. Interestingly when I met her I told her my goal was to not have the surgery (this was before I started learning about the LapBand which I know hope to have early 2006). What I liked best is that she stressed that I should not rule out having or not having the surgery but rather to consider both as options and keep them open. She helped me to get to know myself better and to better understand the point that I was in life and how it was important to make small changes one at a time. One of the other things I liked is that she challenged me - she didn't just let me say whatever I wanted and take my $$. She is genuinely interested in her patients. Since I will not be starting the process until 2006 (when my new insurance applies) I have not seen her in many months (my fault). I definitely recommend her. She is kind, considerate and very understanding - and at the same time she won't just tell you what you want to hear. I liked that.
I had seen Dr. Grant several months before for a period of several weeks and knew immediately that I wanted her to do my pre-op evaluation. Dr. Grant is very kind, supportive, and impressively insightful. She understands the physical and emotional issues that are associated with morbid obesity and bariatric surgery, using this knowledge to help her patients address them effectively. I highly reccomend Dr. Grant without reservation to anyone looking for an obesity-sensitive psychologist to do their pre-operative evaluation or follow up care.
