Some are afraid of this process, but he made it a very comfortable time. I highly recommend him. He is compassionate and knowledgeable.
This is a very nice man, but he didn't help me at all. Each session was basically a repeat of the same info and he didn't have anything really concrete to suggest. Certainly nothing new. He did write a letter for me in my panni appeal to Cigna. That was helpful!
Well worth the drive if you are outside of the Denver-Metro area. Take the info your surgeon needs addressed with you and answer the surgeon's questions.
Dr. Ammirato was very easy-going, and my appointment with him went very well. He has made a point of learning about WLS, and seemed very knowledgable about the psychological aspect of such a severe change. I would recommend him highly to any WLS patient for evaluation, or regular visits.
He is so real, and he puts you at ease right away. I couldn't have asked for a better person to see.
I was nervous about seeing a psychologist my Insurance Co. now requires it. I phoned Dr. Ammirato and he was able to get me in right away. Dr. Ammirato helped me feel at ease, no strange tests, etc. We basically discussed my expectations of WLS. He said he would submit his approval letter to the surgeon in a matter of days. He charges $180. for his consultation which you can submit back to your insurance company for reimbursement. He has a genuine interest in WLS patients. Dr Ammirato was very pleasant and positive. He had a very comfortable little office and we basically sat and chatted for an hour. He really just wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing and what the consequences would be - which of course I did. This was a last minute appointment as my insurance company recently started requiring it. Dr. Ammirato was very accomodating and got his paperwork into my surgeon's office quickly which I really appreciated. I highly recommend him!
