Carla Garber Psychologist Ph.D.
I actually enjoyed my visit with Dr. Garber. She listened to what I had to say, and even asked me what a Morbidly Obese person would want someone in her profession to know. She specializes in eating disorders and does not personally agree with the surgery alternative, but did not let that prevent her from approving my surgery. I'm not sure that she fully understands all the health issues related to Morbid Obesity, she tended to lean towards it being more important to be comfortable with who we are. I can understand that, and tried to help her understand that's only a small part of the picture. The prejudaces we face and the health problems we endure go far beyond a simple comfort level with our own bodies. (Personally I would love to be able to clip my toenails without major discomfort and difficulties :-) ) The only disappointment with her has been her delay in sending the written report in. My insurance company is even getting anxious for it. It is, right now, the only thing preventing my approval from going through which of course is preventing me from setting an insurance date. This is causing me some anxieties since with my fall college schedule I have only a small window of opportunity to do this. I would recommend her to anyone.
