Michael Parrish Psychologist
Dr Parish is responsible, in great part of my success before and after my bariatric surgery and for my husbands complete support during and after my surgery. Dr Parish spent time with me preparing me for the surgery, came to the hospital and walked through relaxation exercises with me before my surgery and then proceded to give me forward knowledge of what to expect during my recovery and weight loss experience. He helped me to prepare for and/or avoid so many different experiences and pitfalls by using his professional skills and experience in helping me survive the mental struggles after such a drastic change in my life. I believe that much of my smooth and vertually problem free recovery and transition can be traced back to the time spent in conversations with Dr Parish. These discussions were invaluable and I am sorry that all of those that have the surgery today do not have the benefit of his help and/or counsel. Dr Parish was also invaluable in helping my husband through this time of transition. He (my husband) understood that he loved me and wanted the best for me but he did not understand what was happening inside my head and I was unable to articulate my feelings and needs to him. While I was in surgery, Dr Parish spent a short time in the surgical waiting rooom and gave him insight that allowed him to become a partner and supporter in my recovery - not just an observer. As a professional, Dr Parish is in the unique position to have had the experience in the specialized field of bariatric surgery and a caring heart for the people that he helps. When you have a combination like that on your side your chances for success become exponentially higher!
I met Dr. Parish through the bariatric surgery program of Dr. Norman Samuels. Although I am 4 years post op I still continue to see Dr. Parrish. He has been very supportive and helpful in helping me work through my own personal issues. We could relate to each other very well on many different issues. I thank Dr. Parrish for all his help.
Dr. Michael Parish treated my roomate during her hospital stay for gastric by pass surgery. I saw him in therapy to decide whether or not to have the surgery. One and a half years later, I am having the surgery.
Dr. Parish is as knowledgeable as he is sensitive. He is non-judgemental, caring and objective. He guides, but does notlecture. He is supportive and helped to lead me to the best decision possible.
Because of change of surgeons, Dr. Parish cannot be with me just before surgery as he would have had I not switched surgeons.
He made a relaxation tape that has helped me immmensely during this last week before I go to the LOSING SIDE.
I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Parish I am grateful that he is a part of my LOSING TEAM.
