Peggy Becker Psychologist LCSW,CSAC
The actual evaluation went very well. However, I was a little disappointed when I arrived early for a 2pm appointment to find the Psychologist was not in the office. I waited for approximately 1hr and 15min. When she did arrive, she apologized and we sat down to conduct the evaluation.
Overall, I Ms. Becker was very knowledgable about the procedure and made me feel very comfortable. Since she had the surgery done, she was able to let me know She also provided a lot of information.
Peggy was a very nice lady that I enjoyed talking to. She also had gastric bypass surgery so it was easy to open up to her and explain why I wanted to have this surgery done. I would HIGHLY recommend Peggy to anyone! I felt completely comfortable with her and she welcomed me back to the office in the future should I need any help as a post-op.
I was very nervous about surgery and the death and dying. I was scared I wouldn't wake up. She helped me realize that I was normal and not crazy. It was okay to be scared. She listened and helped me see that this surgery was defintely for me. She made sure I was aware of the risks as well as the benefits of the surgery. She also made sure I knew how the surgery was performed and what they actually were going to do to my stomach. We talked alot about after surgery and what my responsibilities were going to be and that this surgery wasn't a miracle cure. It was a tool to help me loose the weight and to do so I needed to follow all the rules and look forward to my new and improved health. She was very compassionate and made me feel comfortable talking to her. It was as if I was talking to a friend. She was very adamant about my responsibilities in making this work and making sure I realized this was not going to be the easy way, I was going to have to be committed to changing my eating behaviors with the help of this surgery. I felt very confident and at ease with the surgery after I left. I would reccomend everyone go see her. I am planning to folllow up with her 1 more time before surgery and again after surgery on my own. This is not a requirement from my doctor, but as the saying goes if it works keep doing it.
