Optifast 800 by Novartis Medical Nutrition - Liquid Meal
I've tried every protein supplement imaginable since my gastric sleeve/Lap-Band surgery, and this is the ONLY one that doesn't make me want to hurl. I bought some plain (unflavored, unsweetened) Whey Protein Isolate to boost the protein level, and add a tsp. of orange psyllium powder to both the vanilla and chocolate flavors. This works MARVELOUSLY to add some easily managed fiber to my diet, and to keep me feeling "full" longer. I wish some of the other brands of protein powders tasted half as good as this.
(indicates that they have used the product)My doctor has me doing 6 servings a day for 4 weeks prior to surgery. I don't care much for the chocolate shake powder, strawberry powder, or the vanilla ready-to-drink, but the others are pretty good, especially when "doctored" with food extracts or Torani SF syrups. Bars: berry & PB chocolate are pretty good, chocolate fudge - not so much. Soups are not exactly wonderful, but definitely palatable, and add a little variety.
(indicates that they have not used the product)I was concerned about this product at first because I have heard a lot of people say they didn't like it. I tried all three flavors - vanilla, strawberry and chocolate. I love them all! They are very creamy and sweet. More like a milkshake! I enjoy them.
(indicates that they have not used the product)I purchased a 1 week supply from my doctor's office. The 1 week supply includes 14 ready to drink shakes (2 per day) and 14 bars (2 per day). I'm using it for pre-op. For now its ok, but 3 weeks to surgery I will do everything 3x per day no meal. Its pricey. Did see some deals on eBay for a lot less cost which included free shipping.
