Univ of Pittsburgh Division of Plastic Surgery Plastic Surgery Center
I'm three days post op from panniculectomy. Dr. Rubin was great. My first consult with him was 8/4, and my surgery was 8/19. Remarkably fast, and not normal at all. He did a fantastic job, above and beyond what i expected. He fully believes that reconstructive surgery is essential to the mental aspects of weight loss surgery success.
Dr. Rubin is very easy to work with - he will answer every question you have patiently and completely. He is excellent at giving a very clear picture of what results he is able to achieve on your body. I am very pleased with my results from the lower body lift, abdominoplasty and medial thigh lift with vertical incision that he performed on me, and I won't hestitate to use him again when I'm ready to do my upper body work.
Dr. Mattar referred Dr. Rubin to us: when I was close to 30 pounds to my goal. I had stopped loosing weight and I was beginning to feel that I was looking really gross with that big belly flap and saggy thighs. It was only a short time before I got my first appointment with Dr. Rubin. Both my husband and I felt comfortable with Dr. Rubin and that he was very helpful in explaining what all would be done in the surgeries that I wanted done – which was a pannis/tummy tuck, and thigh lift. He also explained what the insurance would pay and what they would not, also the cost for everything too…
At that time, my insurance info was taken and a tentative month for the surgery was planned. I saw Dr. Rubin first the summer, and I really didn’t want surgery like this in hot weather. A few weeks went by and I was told that I was denied and had to have a review. Dr. Rubin had to write the insurance company (or talk to them) about way this was a needed surgery. Weeks went by, and I never heard from them. I called several times and left messages on the secretary’s voice mail – no response. I finally found out that the secretary that I met and was working with left all of a sudden another lady was taking her place. She was great and got everything done so that I was able to have my surgery on the day that was originally planned.
Again, our visit with Dr. Rubin was very informative and he was more than willing to answer all f the question that I had. I had my surgery on Oct. 3 at Montefiore Hospital – was in there from Friday to Monday. And saw Dr. Rubin and others of the staff every day or twice a day.
Post-op care has been very good, and he has always shown a very supportive and that he was interested in you – just not as a patient but as a person that needed his help. One thing that I liked about him is that he never tell you that you what you should have done – he asks what you want done and then goes from there if it is reasonable for what you do need and what you are expectation.
If I ever need more surgery done, I will not hesitate in going to Dr. Rubin or referring others to Dr. Rubin.
He is real interested in doing the plastic surgery after gastric by-pass and many patients have very good comments about him. I finally had my surgery on March 18,2004 it was alot rougher than I thought it was going to be. I had my stomach done and stomach walls tightened, a breast reduction and my arms done all at the same time. My arms are the worst. I am glad I had it all done at one time. Dr Rubin was so gentle and kind. He was there for me from the being and I am still seeing him for this surgery. I can not say enough about his staff they are all so generous and Sue his nurse is so good, gentle and she is some one who loves her job.
Dr. Rubin takes the time to answer all of mine and my husbands question. He is a very gentle man and looks out for each of his patients. His bed side manor is gentle kind and caring. I know I made the right decision by choosing him and refer every one to him. When ever I have a problem if I email Lana, his secretary I always get an answer and if she needs to put it by him, she does and lets me know. And I always hear back.He goes above and beyond and most doctors do not do that today. I can truly see he really enjoys the profession he has choosen and enjoys it.
He is relaxed and does not seem to get excited and he takes the time for me if it be five minutes or half hour and I like that in a doctor.
