Ubirajara Martinelli Plastic Surgeon
Dr. Martinelli did a BL and Extended TT "Revision" for me on 11-3-2005. I was a "former" MO Person, I lost about 85# total, and I learned about Dr. Martinelli on Yahoo Groups. When I went to my Consult with Dr. Martinelli, I told him the other things I did not like yet/still about my body, and he told me he could do fix everything at the same time as my revisions. He gave me a package price for "everything" ("Added-On" a Mons Lift and Inner Thigh Lift, and the package price was so good that I couldn't say "No". I did spend more than I budgeted/planned, but, I'm very happy I did!
The end result was that the pain/recovery was definately less/quicker than the first time I had LBL and BL (6-2003, (different doctor-"Not" Martinelli). Another thing was that I had planned my 4th trip to be for 3 full weeks recovery, and I ended up staying only 1 week!
I "say" to not do as I did though! Plan to go for at least 2 weeks. I just felt very good, was in excellent health, and I was fortunate to feel well enough to go back home early. P.S.=I'll have to pay to have follow-up care here, so I recommend staying the 2 weeks (or more) and vacationing in Brazil and enjoying your experience some while your there.
Briefly about Dr. Martinelli's technique. My feeling was that his near stitchless technique must have been a little less invasion to my body. "Maybe", I felt so good after surgery because I was mentally prepared and in a relaxed mind? Who knows, why for sure but the pain was probably a 1 on the 1-10 scale. Dr. Martinelli "doesn't use Glue either. "ONLY" Micropore Surgical Tape!
My suggestion is to find Micropore tape here in USA as it's more expensive in Brazil and also difficult to buy here at local Pharmacys. I'd suggest, if you use Martinelli, that you order Micropore 1" tape on-line. I've seen it for about $0.91/per 10 yard roll and take a couple rolls with you to Brazil "just in case". Dr. Martinelli's dressing nurses usually provide this but "if" you needed to buy some IN Brazil, the price is about 3X's as much! Yikes! LOL Also, get the 12-pk, 1" wide, 10 yards per roll box because you'll probably need to use tape for about 3-4 weeks after surgery.
I hope all this info helped and if you ever want to write me direct [email protected] (or IM me), I'd be happy to help with questions "if" I know the answers.
Best lucky to you,
Peggy in Belle Plaine, Iowa
